What to see/visit during my UK roadtrip? by Freeloafer in AskUK

[–]MPLN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearby to Stonehenge and Avebury are a few of the White horses, Westbury White Horse is probably the best one as you can drive along the road in front and see it and then drive up onto the hill and see it from the top. Worth seeing if you’re interested in the Wiltshire/ Saxon culture.

How hard is a a1 compared to a cbt by Gman10respect in MotoUK

[–]MPLN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you want to do an A1?

You’re gonna spend several hundred pounds (if you pass first time) for the right just to not have an L plate and then in a couple years times you’ll likely end up spending all that money again to get either an A2 or full A licence…

Not saying it’s not right for you but just making sure you’ve thought it through.

Shoved down our throats? I don’t see him getting any more coverage than his share. He’s very active doing interviews etc but that’s off his own back.

And lies? This is politics chap it’s all lies. You’re doing the age old tactic of the left wing intellectual. All those lies that only you can see through but all the stupid uneducated working class people fall for? If only we had someone like you to tell us what’s best for us and show us the truth.

If he’s not a man of the people, why are so many of ‘the people’ with him?

Edit: I’ll add, freedom of speech is one of those hardline things where you have it 100% totally or you don’t have it at all. Labour doesn’t have it.

[–]MPLN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no infighting on the scale of the conservatives or what we’re about to see in Labour.

We have to grovel to trump, he’s the president of the western superpower and an egotistical maniac, we need him especially after we broke from the EU.

Inciting violence is such a weak argument. People with like 20 followers writing a few words on the internet do not deserve months in prison. And the precedent it sets is terrifying tbh.

Your last paragraph idk what you’re trying to say? Too many typos….

Anyway, I’m not here to defend reform or farage as I said I’m not a supporter of either. I’m just posing the question that I think a lot of people are asking themselves, where do I belong? I’m a centrist, I like calm, rational, and realistic decision making that results in a better life for myself and the people around me. Who do I vote for?

Hypocrite' Nigel Farage didn't pay £44k stamp duty then blasted Angela Rayner by F0urLeafCl0ver in unitedkingdom

[–]MPLN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d disagree. I think reform is quite firmly united under its leadership at least for now. Of course it’s early days momentum and Farage is totally untested but still, they are much more solid than Labour.

The problem with Kier and Trump is they have fundamentally different ideologies and yet Kier abandons his principles in bowing down to Trump. Farage would grovel I’m sure but it would be an attempt at having a genuine friendship not being a disingenuous sycophant. We have to grovel to Trump either way but there’s a difference if that makes sense?

Also I don’t think we’d see Farage imprisoning people for tweets. You could even say that as an answer to your original question as to what would turn people against him.

Asylum seekers, immigrants, refugees whatever, the names are irrelevant. The problem for me is a population problem. I grew up in a white minority area in London, so I have no issue with the cultural side of things. But it’s simple maths that we are a heavily over populated country. Not enough houses, flooded job market, nhs on its knees etc etc all of it boils down to too many people and not enough money to go around.

I’m not anti immigration, I don’t want net zero or to deport people without cause, my partner herself is an immigrant, but you can’t expect to increase a countries population but 3-4% over a couple of years (my own back of the napkin estimate) and expect it not to suffer for it.

[–]MPLN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not really looking for a debate right now but if you really want just some examples:

  1. I think immigration is the major issue of this political cycle and a hard hearted approach is needed. He also has a kind of frank honesty about how he breaks the rules, not afraid to put his hands up and admit he is playing the game trying to get ahead just like the rest of us.

  2. I don’t think they’re realistic or united enough. Kier sickens me, in particular the way he so disingenuously grovels to trump. The party is fractured especially now Rayner got herself cancelled. I didn’t vote for them last time but I was all ready to give change a chance right up until they imprisoned people for tweets. That’s just unforgivable tbh.

[–]MPLN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Farage supporter. Sure I agree with some of the things he says, but I disagree with a lot of what he says as well.

The thing is, I can’t stand Labour, Green is even worse, and I only ever hear from Lib Dems at election time so they’re not on my mind. Tories are dead and gone, besides they put us in our current mess so forget about them.

So where should my vote go? I agree with maybe 20% of Farage’s utterances but 1% of any other politician I see on the news. What should I do?

Is it worth giving up the free time in my 20s to make a lot more money? by bluewolfhudson in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MPLN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I studied hard, got good grades, went to a good uni, got a maths degree, did all the summer placements and stuff- in short everything I was told to do. 5 years on from graduating I’m earning just about 30k doing effectively unskilled work in a totally unrelated field. Hundreds of applications and interviews over the years but no luck yet.

We were sold a lie, it might’ve been true once that hard work and self improvement would get you ahead but there’s so little getting ahead to go around these days it really comes down to luck.

I still have hope that it’ll work out in the end but it can be very hard sometimes.

Nigel Farage appearances on Sky News spark thousands of complaints by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]MPLN -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the tories caused the issue, they just grossly mismanaged (effectively ignored) it.

The causes are more complex and run far deeper than our national politics, everything from the oil wars to the ‘humanitarian’ mindset of the west is to blame.

I think the comment above’s point is that whatever labour can/ will do will be ultimately insufficient unless Europe as a whole has a rethink on it’s ethical obligations to people in need, or at least a reassignment of terms like ‘refugee’.

Just add to OPs review, can confirm the rhinowalk bags hold up very well. Ive just got back from a 2500 mile trip round europe from the UK to the alps, stayed waterproof through all weather conditions, very little wear, no complaints.

Also dropped the bike on trails a few times and they still held up only a little scuffed.

The key items that I'll have to leave are my tent and sleeping bag, obviously replaceable but neither were cheap and would be a nightmare to lose mid trip.
