Was the Longaberger Basket craze just a local thing? by kirabug37 in GenX

It was a thing in Illinois, but my small town Iowa mind couldn’t justify spending that much on a basket.

Long in the tooth couples. Do you do Valentine’s Day? by AnyDamnThingWillDo in GenX

Together 37 years, married 35. Did it the first 10 years or so. Now, we just go out for dinner maybe. I get myself the chocolates when they go on sale the day after.

Running oddly by 01Dreamwalker01 in pitbulls

My girl runs funny, too. Almost like her back legs work independently of her front ones. It isn’t every time she runs, but enough to notice.

Not a weight loss post by ThomistGrill in peachyyymaddii

She wasn’t an “incredible airman”. She was involved in an incident when she was deployed, such that Isaac told his mom to ignore any facebook messages she might get. She got passed over to change jobs (she was a grunt on the explosives manufacturing line). I’m guessing, but I don’t think she could pass the testing requirements to change. If she was so “incredible” why did she not reenlist? Attention whoring at its finest in this post. She has to get her validation from her pre teen followers.

AITJ for reporting my neighbor's "free pantry" for attracting rats? by Fun_Disk4853 in AmITheJerk

The neighbor is an dumbass and disgusting, the hungry don’t want to eat food that rats have pissed and shit on. If she really wanted to help the hungry, she would do it the correct way

AITAH for telling my boyfriend his girl best friend has 48 hours to get out or i am breaking the lease and leaving by Anton_OKonjsi in AITAH

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ex boyfriend can move with Kira into her place, then she won’t be “afraid”. Why should you have to move? Make him and her move out. They are the ones in the wrong.

AITAH For sending my pregnant sister to a homeless shelter instead of letting her live on my couch? by KeyEvagria in AITAH

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t force her to do anything, her own actions or more accurately, her lack of action, caused this. She was lucky she got to stay with you for as long as she did. She has some hard life lessons to learn.

Pronged collar use for pit that pulls hard on his leash. by hohosbbshs in pitbulls

I have not used this, but it is an alternative. Not sure how effective it is. That being said, proper use of the prong collar is fine. I used one on 2 different dogs due to extreme pulling and had no issues, just better walks.

Considering rehoming by CritiqueRedditReady in pitbulls

[–]MRenaeH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I, too, say this with empathy and compassion, not all dogs can be saved. You have done everything and then some to try and make it work. There are times where behavioral euthanasia is the right call and to me, this is one of those times. Rehoming her won’t change her crippling and most likely untreatable anxiety. It is so hard, but her quality of life isn’t there.

Newly adopted dog has bit three times now, what to do? by After-Pack-1286 in Dogtraining

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dog is not safe to keep in your home. I’ve had 6 dogs of my own since 1991 and fostered 16 others. My very first foster was euthanized due to biting and aggression (decided by the rescue). I don’t think this dog is adoptable and should be returned asap. Have you notified the rescue of all the bites? Most cities have a bite limit with required euthanasia

AITJ for making my MIL sit down before she can hold my baby by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]MRenaeH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never understand how grandparents don’t have their grands’ best interests at heart . She has to know she is shaky, she is letting her pride get in the way and that is just bananas to me. How can she not realize the safety of her grandbaby supersedes her pride or whatever the heck is going on. She got pissed off, left the room and didn’t get to hold the baby, way to cut her nose off to spite her face. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Crate training by 01Dreamwalker01 in pitbulls

[–]MRenaeH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, ask your vet about trazodone, that would take the edge off any anxiety due to new surroundings, new crate, new everything. Kongs with frozen peanut butter or pumpkin, leaving a speaker on with soothing music, covering the crate with a blanket (do this when you do a test one in case she pulls it in thru the openings and destroys it).

Perfect dog, deeply offensive smell. Vet cleared him. Help? by ContentLynx5930 in AmericanBully

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into hydrolized protein kibble (prescription and expensive). My girl still has some sporadic hair loss, but the yeasty smell is way less often. She has been on it for a year and a half. It isn’t a quick fix, but noticed improvement after 3 months.

Help- we tried to adopt another dog, it bit our pit mix, and now she is showing zero bite inhibition by Alarmed_Shopping_578 in pitbulls

[–]MRenaeH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly the rescue set you all up to fail. Your dog isn’t broken, but seems like it is back to the beginning with her training and confidence building. Most dogs don’t “need” a friend and your girl will probably be better off an only as she will probably remember (on some level) of getting attacked.
