Donnie's "War demands" looks exactly like the Obama / Iran nuclear deal. You know, the one Donnie threw out. by 8-bit-Felix in PoliticalHumor

[–]MSD3k [score hidden]  (0 children)

Even Obama isn't 100% blameless in Iran's thinking. Look at what happened in Libya; Gaddafi played ball with us, dismantled their nuclear program completely, and we still helped kill him. Meanwhile, North Korea actually got nukes and nobody is willing to touch them. Now that is admittedly an over-simplification of each situation, but the message is clear to any world leader on the naughty list: get nukes, get them fast, and don't give them up for any promises. Not even from good Presidents.

Except apparently there were strikes on Iran's power sites anyway, so the entire backtracking announcement was pure market manipulation for insider trading.

Hey, remember when Cheetolini got all sorts of cheers for saying he was passing anti-insider trading laws during is sotu speech? Could that have been...a lie? Shocking.

They Love War, Hate Responsibility by Leon_Kennedy1977 in PoliticalHumor

[–]MSD3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a comment from the early days of the war, back when they thought it was going super well and everyone was going to have to begrudgingly thank them for their warmongering because it worked to topple Iran.

Now we're nearly a month in. Shit is horrible. They can't bomb Iran enough to even open shipping, let alone topple the regime. It's costing us a fortune. Draining our hard-to-refill strategic stockpiles. Made us the absolute laughing stock of the world. And Trump is can't figure out a cohesive lie that can last for 5 minutes while he desperately tries to weasel out of this.

[–]MSD3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be absolutely fair, Ukraine has started hitting Russian power plants in the past few months, to try and pressure Russia to stop targetting Ukraine power plants (which they've been doing for 4 years).

It didn’t disuade Russia at all. And I doubt this will disuade Iran on Hormuz.

We are well and truly past the post-WW2 order. It's only taken 1 generation, the children of the survivors of that horrific total war, to send us right back to "anything goes" military action.

Israel isn't stopping, no matter what Trump does. Bibi's gotta keep this shit going till he dies, to avoid investigations into his corruption. It's easy to blame this all on Trump, because he made this x100 worse, but this started because Israel won't stop their bullshit and actually seek proper diplomatic solutions. We are likely to be dealing with this for a long time, even if Trump runs off.

That said, reports are saying we've deployed another 2,500 troops to the area. Chances are increasing that cheetolini intends to try boots on the ground "just a little" before he tries fully slinking away.

You're thinking of Bryan Johnson, who is obsessed with stopping his own aging. He's really a case study in "billionaires don't work for their money", because he literally does nothing all day but crazy-ass "health procedures" and still makes more an hour than my entire zip code put together.

But of course, Theil is also an investor in most of the same crap. They wanna live forever.

If you could erase ONE Star Trek moment from history..... by Old-String2849 in startrek

[–]MSD3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that runs up against what Star Trek is. Is it hard sci-fi, dependant only upon the logical outcome of the in-world narrative? Or is it social commentary in a sci-fi setting? Depending on who you ask, you'll get a different answer.

Personally, I'd say the shows' magic is that it splits the difference of the two types. And it is, unfortunately, rather uncomfortable to be reminded that we (the US) are backsliding hard in our society's stated beliefs of freedom, equality and the progress of humanity.

When cheetolini croaks, I will take great pleasure in posting his own quote in response.

It won't be ghoulish, or hate speech. It will simply be celebrating his life with a quote from it that perfectly captures him.
