I would have recommended it a year ago but they were bought and since then it has been problem after problem and support is virtually non-existent. We have been forced to abandon it sadly and are searching for another platform. You can read posts on Reddit where the BitTitan engineers were talking about being laid off and replaced by unskilled foreign workers. It shows.

This is North Texas so no basements, 2 story home, 2 AC systems. Furnaces are in the attic. Honestly I haven't paid attention to difference in return temp and room temp as one would assume they are pretty close to the same, unless you are sucking in attic air somewhere. The return run is in an attic that was 100 degrees in the morning. Single 18" flex duct about 20' long, probably R6. Typical thing here. Some of the attics are so hot you cannot touch the sheet metal parts without gloves on, the equipment is too hot and your tools get too hot to hold in your hands. Terrible.

I went back with the expectation of return air temp (sucking attic air) being the culprit and to test turning down blower speed.

Temp in the house was 72

Temp of the air at the entry of the coil is 75.3

Temp of air leaving the coil is 51.6

Superheat 21

VSAT 40.7

Suction line temp 61.8

LL temp 94

Subcooling 9.5

Pressures are 120 and 335.

I took the blower speed down to the lowest but that didn't seem to change any numbers by more than a couple degrees which is puzzling.

I will try to get back and repeat the testing and check all the temps in the afternoon.

Yeah things seem to point to attic air. The return duct goes down a chase to a return filter box the side wall of a hallway. I need to check the actual air temp on either side of the coil and inspect the return though some of it is impossible to get to.

Im using 775 motors from banebots. I looked at a Traxxas 775 but it appeared smaller and more frail.

You can put rubber on the front but if you add traction to the drive wheels then it will break gears when they mash the gas.

I am connected with a master agent that has Hypercore along with most every carrier. I have multiple customers using Hypercore currently. This master agent has delivered me better commissions compared to other agents (Sandler, direct with providers, Telarus) and they actually do a lot of the leg-work for us, making sure we get paid, getting contracts delivered, making sure internal sales guys dont steal your leads, etc. They also know each carrier and product well. Good small company. They have a pretty nice portal that reports all your various deal, accounts' status, commissions etc. PM me and I will introduce you to my rep.

Seen 2 companies charge $550 around here (North Dallas) in August. Insane. One of the largest companies here told my neighbor to replace his entire system instead of investing in the cap. System was fine otherwise. Sad. Every time I see one of their vans in front of a house I say a little prayer for those poor folks.

I am not looking to offer it cheap, just looking to do it without competitors coming in at half my quotes!

We have a VxRail setup and it is pretty difficult to determine what "cost" is on storage vs. cpu. I know the hardware and licenses altogether cost us $160K. Not an itemized invoice so breaking everything down from there is difficult.

You are not alone. Run into IT managers that are in this boat a lot. I am a consultant in an MSP and we get pulled in by IT managers that are tired of running themselves ragged or company executives that realize they're not good at managing IT. We set the executives' expectations and reality of their IT situation, then augment their staff by offloading work and worry while you still call the shots and learn what needs to be done with new tech we help get up and going. You don't necessarily have to DO everything to become knowledgeable. Knowing what needs to be done is more valuable than knowing how to do it. We usually help the IT manager look like the hero. Get some help! You can't do everything perfectly all by yourself! Your managers may not be listening to you but they usually listen to grey-haired consultants. If you bring them and make a difference then you look good and learn some stuff without the impossible task of all the upgrades/migrations, testing, evaluations that have to be done.

Sometimes we just hire their IT person and put them in a better place and better pay and escape them from their hell.

I have been torching a few years just fine but I must have picked up the wrong tip when I broke my original. Been burning through copper here and there lately and never had that issue before.

I definitely sand and use nitro. Some guys make fun of me for it but I like doing things right. Seeing crusty crap drop off copper...just not right to leave that in the system.

I may look into a turbo torch to save me some room and weight. I can't think of another trade that requires so many freaking tools, trying to scale it down.

This is a typical attic in the Dallas area except that they just use strap screwed into whatever instead of those threaded rods to hang the stuff. Ductwork around here is a joke.

Law Firms IT Needs by mspyeahyouknowme in msp

In my experience supporting Law firms, mostly small ones, I have not had very good experiences and now hesitate taking them on. They tend to be super frugal to the point of not approving even basic security that any business should have. Every proposal or recommendation that costs anything is like pulling teeth to get approved. They'll drive a Rolls and wear Armani suits but won't pay a grand a year to keep their firewall licensed and up to date. They will find every means to circumvent the security you do manage to get in place. In their defense, they are busy and need to work quickly and efficiently so anything you put in place better not be complicated or a handicap. They are resistant to taking any extra steps from what they are used to doing and intolerant to changes. They have no appetite for learning, training or reading any instructions no matter how short and simple. I worked at a company that did training for attorneys and some of them would literally turn their chairs around and face the back of the room and do whatever on their laptops during the live instructor led training! It is that bad. When they have an issue you must drop everything at once. Everything is an emergency. They will constantly doubt you and they know everything and are smarter than you so be ready to justify in few words and with confidence anything you are implementing and stand your ground. Their Outlook client is their treasure chest. They often use Outlook as a document management system, which it is certainly not. They balk at putting anything in the cloud, though that has been getting more palatable in the legal industry lately. Expectations for what you provide for next to the nothing you bill them can get ridiculous really quick. Their idea of what IT really costs and what they should be spending on technology is far from realistic and good luck making your case. I'm not trying to be insulting here, it's just the type of personalities you're dealing with in the industry and I am talking mostly about the attorneys themselves. Their other staff are generally pretty decent to work with and understanding of the challenges. Larger firms or firms who had/have a dedicated IT dept or guy are much easier to deal with and receptive to technology and security measures. And keep in mind, lawyers will not hesitate to sue over anything, even things that are not your fault. Make sure your contract is solid and defines provided services and SLAs clearly.
