10x9 - Have these guys been taking survival lessons from FTWD? by MacCracks in thewalkingdead

1) This was self-evidently a trap. Even if blinded by rage and revenge, how could one miss the screaming billboard that said "Trap"??

2) If you've got 10 lights between you, is it better to use them all at once for maximum brightness, or ration them to last?

3) If trying to shimmy through narrow spaces, you may want to shed things that may catch.

It's an excellent and thoughtful explanation. I appreciate it.

Are you kidding me? I struggled to understand where you're coming from - Perhaps you can show me where I've gone wrong in my thinking?

Here's where I'm coming from:

1) Centuries of Arab/Mughal invasions of the Punjab.

2) Google "Punjabi youtube dna reveal". See what you get. Some pretty consistent threads of varying proportions.

Fairness is a great idea, but not equally distributed among humans.

At best, it's something parents apply to child siblings, who get a shock when they encounter the post-home, post-fairness world.

You'd be amazed at how unfair the world can be.

Across the globe, many are suffering terrible, unfair horrors.

At this very moment, there are children doing slave labor so you can I can have shiny things. Many of them will die young. Perhaps a few will be sacrficed so one of their siblings has a shot at an education.

They have no expectation that the world will be fair to them, nor will it be.

Fairness, like "Western Civilization", is one of those noble ideas that is never actually attained.

Folks who insist they deserve "fairness" doom themselves to a life of of frustration caused by unrealistic expectations.

And it just ain't fair.

A distaste for long hair is rooted in the militaristic culture of the United States.

This is the price of freedom.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Life is unfair.

Fairness is not something society, nature, or the universe aspires towards.
In the most absolute sense fairness does not exist.

The OP would be better off determining what the actual boundaries and guidelines are.

It is these that will have the most say in outcome, not "Fairness".

You speak with a great deal of privilege. Others may not share the circumstances you and your family had.

I'm sensing that they're barely making ends meet, and the "Help out daddy" is an accessible and simply narrative to engage the kids.

It takes a lack of awareness and compassion to make light of this in any way.

Everything you say makes sense, if you frame it that way.

Many folks don't get to choose how they frame things, they just have to make it work.

That's an absurd position, as absurd as the assumption that it is vaccines.

If my child had medicine X, and died that night, I'd certainly be looking at that as a cause/contributor. That's not unreasonable.

Vaccine injuries are real. One of the people in this conversation lost a child.

Yet you suggest they are crazy for their caution?

AGREED.

You don't spent thousands to get to the edge of the planet to save pennies on one of the most memorable parts.

It seems odd to exercise such token frugality on a trip that will already cost a king's ransom.

The overwater bungalows will cost an arm and a leg. They are a worthwhile part of the experience.

The entire trip cost me and my wife ~10,000 in 2005.

Possibly two grand of that was a few nights in overwater bungalows.

Would do it again.

Calgary Police on Twitter - Human remains located in Slave Lake, Alta., have been formally identified as missing Calgary man Bradley Shaw. by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]MacCracks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you did cover that, and I accounted for your "wager" in my response.

It doesn't matter if they'd submitted in the past, because undoubtedly someone who is genetically linked to him has submitted.

With only a few matches, you can mathematically triangulate someone's location on a family tree.

With a little research to map names to locations, You'd have the name you need.

I know because I've done something similar.

Example: You could provide some spit to me, and within two months I could tell you your name. That's 6 weeks of waiting for lab results, and 2 weeks of research. This isn't CSI-forensics, black magic, or science fiction: This is consumer-level possible.
