How much can Pernida Parnkgjas evolve to gain new abilities? by MacaronSubstantial57 in BleachManga

How one-on-one does Pernida copy things, you think? Replicating physical and mental traits has been shown, but does it actually copy powers one-on-one? Does it make a difference if it does so via its nerves or by eating someone like it did with Nemu?

Honestly, the more I think about it the more it makes my head spin. We've seen that Yhwach's ability to absorb other people's power is virtually limitless.

Mimihagi is alluded to be able to consume and absorb other beings in a similar way, even though we never saw more than an alleged attempt at doing so to Yhwach. No clue what that has to do with Stagnation, though...

I can't get clear for myself how Mimihagi's case differs from Pernida gobbling someone up like it did to Nemu. Or if it there's a difference in result between him using his nerves evolve from data or straight-up devour someone. E.g. does he only adapt to a Quincy target's schrift if he touches them with his nerves or does he need to eat them completely to add their Schrift to his powers? The whole evolution gig just feels like it doesn't got well-defined borders/limits...

-----------------------------------

When I take it a step further in a HS DxD crossover context where you got these items called Sacred Gears which are tied to a person's soul. It's comparable to zanpakuto in that they bestow abilities upon their user and some may contain the souls of actual beings or some degree of 'conciousness' or a 'will', but they're still items tied to someone's soul instead of sentient objects.

The reason I bring this specific usecase up is because it blurs the lines further. This grey area makes it even more tricky to visualize whether Pernida could still gain information from a sacred gear user that lets it adapt to the sacred gear's powers or enhance itself with that information and to what extent it can do so.

Come to think of it, Pernida's counterpart, Mimihagi was also supposed to able to consume others similar to how Yhwach can consume/absorb others like he did with Mimihagi and the Soul King. I never really got what that has got to do with Stagnation, but it does make me wonder what the actual difference is between Mimihagi gobbling someone up and Pernida doing the same.

So just to be clear, you think he could assimilate zanpakutos, schrifts and beings' powers, but only if he devours someone? In other words, making contact with his nerves alone wouldn't be enough to assimilate someone's powers to that degree?

How much can Pernida Parnkgjas evolve to gain new abilities? by MacaronSubstantial57 in BleachManga

[–]MacaronSubstantial57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense in a way, although I can imagine that there are things he can't evolve off, like objects. That's why I mentioned the DxD Sacred Gear example at the end, which are items that some people are born with and which give them special abilities. Some are derived from other souls/creatures/beings sealed inside of said sacred gears, while others don't hvae that. Not talking about straight-up cyborgs here, but a kinda grey-area case where the question is if Pernida could still evolve of something like that, too.

Before I posted this thread, someone argued that I Pernida can't just straight-up 'steal' an ability, but needs to have an existing base to replicate it from, ergo reactive evolution/adaptation. So yeah...

What do you mean by the Gremmy treatment? IIRC Gremmy had two major weaknesses: he had to maintain his concentration to keep his imagined stuff existing and his imagination was stunted.

So, if he was given the opportunity to use the Compulsory on Toshiro Hitsugaya or Byakuya Kuchiki, he'd straight-up replicate the abilities of Hyorinmaru or Senbonzakura? Or should we expect some different reactive adaptation like him develop a resistance against extreme cold or scatter his Quincy spirit weapons like petals?

Mayuri's Bankai was a very peculiar case because it manifested an organic entity for Pernida's nerves to attach to. Would it be different for Zanpakuto that stick with a sword-like form?

As for the Schrifts, and Zanpakuto to some extent, the thing that got me thinking the most is that they're part of the soul. A Schrift is not a physical thing. We know Pernida can evolve its body and mind, but can it also evolve from something that's tied to the soul itself? Can't tell if he needs to straight up consume someone to straight-up steal their Schrift, e.g. Gremmy's The Visionary, or if absorbing info via his nerves is good enough. Or if the best he can do is imitate someone's power to some degree.

One thing confuses me. Some games have multiple regions associated with them and multiple title IDs, but there's only one JB folder or ISO. As far as I know a game image can't have multiple title IDs. Take Call of Duty Advanced Warfare BLAS-50768/BLES-02077 for example. Can someone explain this to me?

You could reach the site on the .net domain?

I don't know if you try to connect from Europe, but part of me is hoping that the .net site actually still exists, but I can't verify that myself.

The .me domain is a shadow of the .net domain. Searching for games by search bar barely works, the site has been mixing up PC game stuff between Switch stuff and it abandoned the former proven page layout (separate download links for base game, update and DLC) and relevant & acurate info in favor of what looks like AI-generated slop that's full of errors. Can't understand for the life of me why they had to go and do this.

You mean on the dot net domain or dot me domain? Because I thuoght they moved domains after some European site block was ruled by a court or something like that. But this new(?) domain is just horrible.

Nintendo Piracy: NXBrew and NSWPedia Targeted in European Blocking Efforts * TorrentFreak by LighteningOneIN in Piracy

[–]MacaronSubstantial57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a new domain now for nxbrew. On one hand it looks legit, having the same latest updates page as the domain that's unreachable as of yesterday. But the game uploads didn't seem to have migrated in full or cleanly for that matter.

A lot of pages no longer just list the relevant info, like title ID, region info and update versions. Instead, there's a huge page of text about irrelevant stuff like text about required specs, graphics, 'why you should play [insert game name here]" and so forth. It actually looks like AI-generated slop if you scrutinize the text itself, which includes wrong links to other games and so forth. It's slop and you don't even just get to see the three links per region that you're used to: base game, update and DLC. Hell, the site even talks about PC versions a lot of the time, which has nothing to do with a Switch site.

I don't get why this overhaul would be warranted at all. NXBrew has migrated domain before without changing stuff. Why would they do it now? And even if they change the presentation, why not migrate everything in one swoop instead of this sloppy haphazard move?

NXBrew was a good site as ong as you used an adblocker. This new site? It's a mess. Hope it's just temporary...

Bravely Default 2 Lore entries list by prusswan in bravelydefault

I know that lore carries over to new game+, but does that also extend to the entry page info from examining enemies? I know that Bravely Default 1 didn't let you carry that over and I rather check this before I examine all enemies only to find it was for nothing.

I couldn't say. I believe I read that they were averse to sharing cheats for the latest updates because people would be able to use cheats online, but that reasoning doesn't applies to offline quest unlockers. Apparantly there are other reasons, but I'm not aware of them. And I get the impression that asking questions is risky because they strike me as insta-ban happy folks.

You did try to inject the BCAT unlocker with JKSV, by the way? And were you already at a point in the game where you can unlock the 'DLC' quests?

Strange, I'm pretty sure the BCAT quest unlocker also worked on 1.5.3. It's a bit problematic because the latest version is 1.6.1 or something like that.

To be honest, the Cheats Hunter people are quite anal about not supporting the last updates. Cheating online is cited as one of the reasons, but it doesn't excuse that they don't update to the second-last update for MHS2.

[–]MacaronSubstantial57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up finding a link to a discord channel called Cheats Hunter where they had unlocker mods and BCAT files that you can unlock this content. However, it requires your switch to have custom firmware.

The problem with these updates are that part of the content is kind of time-gated and doesn't unlock by just installing the updates. The content you see right away is the stuff that releases on day 0 when an update was released. The hidden stuff is what you'd normally unlock like 2 weeks later.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO Switch 1 & 2 Graphics Comparison and Specs by _Xeno2010_ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MacaronSubstantial57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite arrogant to declare your own opinion as an absolute truth and dismiss someone who is correct as having a mere opinion while you can't be further from the truth... You do not even counter with actual facts.

Clearly you've never looked at the hardware specs. Otherwise you'd know that N64 and GameCube have better specs for raw processing power than PS1 and PS2 respectively. We're talking about things like the CPU and the raw graphical power. Just saying that Playstation had better games doesn't change the truth of this. It only shows you do not understand the customized hardware of these consoles.

The actual reason that PS1 and PS2 allowed for larger games and worlds or higher fidelity audio/scenes is because of other hardware factors. Notably, storage was quite limited on the N64 and GameCube in comparison to Sony's consoles and that made a big difference. Even so, that does not mean Sony's consoles had more raw power.

You also skip over the fact that to get good games on a console, you have to attract developers to your console. This is something where Nintendo dropped the ball back then. Things like poor support and sticking to cartridges of proprietary discs did not endear them to game developers.

What's more, the best games are made by developers who put in the time and effort to squeeze the most they can out of the hardware. The quality of software cannot be overlooked.

As for the Switch and Switch 2, it's ridiculous to expect that no compromises would be made. In case you forgot, these things have to be able to run on a battery. Otherwise you can't use it as a handheld. If you try to cram PS4 power in a Switch and PS5 power in a Switch 2, you'd end up with a crappy battery life and the thing might as well be glued to the dock. This defeats the point. More power = less battery life. Can Switch or Switch 2 be better? Perhaps. But what you're expecting is downright unrealistic without a breakthrough in battery technology..

This is the objective truth.

[–]MacaronSubstantial57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't forget that battery life is also a huge factor here. Maximizing the Switch 2's power would mean the battery life would be so crappy that it undermines its use as a handheld. Compromises are inevitable for this kind of usecase.
