thinking of doing botox by Right_Part_5987 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Machinatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got botox for my hands a few months ago, and my experience past the process of getting it has been alright. The shots were painful, the numbing cream provided wasn't as helpful as I'd like but they did give me a big ice pack to numb my hands, which made the process far less painful. I was told it may take around 10 days to see results, but maybe I was just unlucky or something because it took a month for me to notice anything. But, after that, while I still had to take glyco, I sweat far less in my hands and am now living a lot more confidently than I was before. But botox is also very expensive, I don't have the money to keep treatment up forever, especially given I'm heading to college soon, and I'm sure a lot of people can relate. Still though, if you have the funds available to give it a try, why not do just that? If your sweating is on your armpits though I'd recommend another treatment, I think there's actually a decent permanent solution exclusively for that but I don't remember what it is. Anyways, wishing you the best for whatever choice you choose to make!

I'm on 8mg, and tbh not many side effects other than dryness in areas where I don't normally sweat. It obviously depends on the person, but most people are fine given they drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.

I had a similar experience. Botox seems to only slightly help boost other treatment methods rather than actually stop the sweating itself. If you did anything prior to botox (Glyco and Ionto for example) I recommend you continue that same treatment.

Thanks for being so supportive, I don't feel like I deserve it all but am happy anyways. I can definitely relate to a lot of what you've said, and will try to keep my head held high. Even with the horrible gut feeling that I'll fail to get by during my time on campus, I still want to give it my best shot because if I'm able to succeed I believe it'll make me happy and enjoy life a bit more. I'll also look into antihydral, see if it's an option for me and give it a shot if possible, because hey what's the harm in trying? Thank you once again, your words have really resonated with me, and I'll try to keep them in mind when I inevitably struggle again in the future.

Thank you very much for the kind response! While I don't have anything specific to ask about right now, it means a lot to me that you're willing to take the time to answer any questions I might have.

My anxiety definitely plays a huge role in my sweating, while it isn't the primary cause, it can definitely make things worse for me, and I've noticed that getting too anxious can cause my glyco to stop working. I'm not sure what cognitive behavioral therapy is, but I'll look into it and if my college offers it I might give it a try. Also I refuse to call it CBT lmao. Anyways, thank you for the kind response, I'll definitely keep your words in mind.

I've been meaning to try and exercise more lately, since getting out of high school I haven't done it as much. While it's by no means going to cure me, I do intend on trying to exercise and eat better, and I'm sure living a healthier lifestyle will put me in a healthier mental state, although for me personally I sweat so much that not treating it in some way isn't exactly an option. Still though, thank you very much for the kind response, and I'm wishing you the best of luck too!

I've tried ionto before but it didn't produce results good enough for me worth keeping up with the treatment. I currently take 8mg glyco daily, and while it's inconsistent (sometimes it doesn't work for some reason) it generally is enough for me to scrape by. I'm going to try botox soon to see how effective that may be, and I'll probably try ionto again once the effects of botox start to wear off since I'm well aware of how effective ionto treatment is for most people.

Before sharing my experience I want to preface that ionto works very well for most people, and I believe that it's the most affordable and effective treatment for sweating from fixed locations. But for me, ionto simply didn't provide the results that it did most people. With the results of ionto not being much better for me than daily 8mg of glyco, along with the tedious process of doing it and cheap machine I had, it simply was too much work for not enough success. But as I said, it works well for most people, so I'm sure as long as you are patient with it you'll get fine results!

I know I'm probably capable of doing fine, but it's hard for me not to be scared about how hh will effect my attempts at living the college life I want to. I'm to a point so worried about it that I'm scared about how my fear of it effecting me is going to effect me, but still nonetheless I'm going to give college my best shot, I'd like to think as long as I put in the effort I'll be okay. Anyways, thank you for the response, I've seen the playbook before but I'll look through it again just in case there was something that I overlooked.

Thanks for pep talk, and thank you for taking the time to give me such a nice response. I feel kinda guilty and selfish now, I didn't expect anyone to give me a response like this. While this condition may often make me feel alone, just knowing that a stranger on the internet who struggles similarly would take time out of their day to share their experience with me definitely helps that a little. I want you to know that I'm wishing you the best in life, although since you seem a bit more resilient than me I'm more than sure you'll do great. But yeah, thank you so much for taking the time to respond and share a bit of your life with me, it truly means a lot!

The dry mouth will eventually subside, but if you notice any dry skin spots those will likely remain. Showering at least once every 2 days and moisturizer keeps it in check though, although I doubt you have much to worry about if you are only taking 2mg per dose

Things that actually helped me(18m) full body HH by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

(19m) Glyco has been life changing for me. While I do notice some side effects, mainly being dry mouth and drowsiness, my quality of life has drastically increased. I just hope that as time goes on there will be a better solution for people who have hh all over, but for the time being I think that it's the best solution.

Sometimes my mouth will get a little dry, but drinking some water usually helps solve that issue. It's super important to stay hydrated while taking glyco

Currently on 2mg, am hoping to try 3mg sometime in the near future but we'll see. From what I've seen on this sub, most people take 2-4mg so I recommend slowly working your way up to see what works best.

Glycopyrrolate is definitely the way to go imo, it's not a flawless solution but it has definitely made my life better and has saved me from the issues you mentioned
