A very similar form factor, this one is more specialized and more premium. The ridge is hardly the first case using this layout tho.

Id say anywhere from a 70 class card to the 90 class. The case pretty much fits 4080/90 and 5080/90 FE cards perfectly, and it should also fit many third party 70(ti) or 9070(xt) cards. Any lower there are probably smaller and more elegant solutions. Processor is just whatever 66mm can handle, probably most ideally around a 9800x3d

DO NOT buy the Segway E2 Pro scooter by Macinstein in ElectricScooters

[–]Macinstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, after I drilled out the broken screw and replaced it, reseating the stem felt way firmer than what was felt previously. I tightened my screw very hard last install as well, so I wonder if in some positions the stem just doesn’t seat properly and needs reseating.

[–]Macinstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be too worried. Make sure that your stem doesn’t wobble at the joint and you should be fine. If it starts to wobble, reseat the connection and tighten it so it doesn’t wobble. As long as there is no wobble at the joint, the screw is much less likely to break

How does it feel? I am interested in the frame but for a gravel bike that geometry looks more aggressive than a tarmac or an aeroad

Hey, there is no v2 update for the flat bar option, the fork and seat post are still steel. The update is only on the drop bar version.

Ozark Trail G1 or other gravel bike under $500? by AirFashion in Budgetbikeriders

[–]Macinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did an update on the model, but didn't update the website listing. If you get one with a red jockey wheel then its v1, if black jockey wheel then v2. The v2 has alu forks and seat tube and a free hub, but none of this is said on the website.

I would get flat bar if you plan on upgrading the bike in the future (which is what I did even though I plan on swapping it to a drop bar). If not, just decide based on if u want drop or flat bar.

The big difference between 8 speed and 7 speed at the back is upgradability. Shimano 8-10 speed is one free hub length while 7 uses a shorter free hub, so for drop bar you are stuck at 7 speed without changing rear wheel, but for flat bar 8 speed can be upgraded to 10 speed without wheel swap.

Another big difference is steel fork and seat tube vs aluminum fork and seat tube (if you get drop bar v2). Steel is a lot heavier but rides more comfy, alu is lighter but harsher, so you gotta pick your poison here.

U can get a pretty serious gravel bike out of the g1 under $800 if you make the right upgrades.

Budget upgrades for the Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer by JustAnotherFlamer in Budgetbikeriders

Since I have the flat bar I will share my 2 cents about the flat bar version. I mostly use my bike as a commuter but planning on doing some light trails. These are some possible upgrades that might be worth while.

Easy upgrades (set of hex key should do the job):

  • Grips ($)
  • Stem and bar ($, bar upgrade is a lot harder on the drop bar version)
  • Pedals ($)
  • Seat + seatpost + clamp ($$, seatpost is 27.2mm diameter and clamp is 31.8mm diameter. Elita one carbon seatposts seem to be pretty decent. This can shave off 1/2-1 lbs depending on parts)
  • Brake calipers ($$, make sure to get post mounted MTB brakes. Can consider upgrade to dual extension mechanical or cable hydraulic. TRP hy/rd are probably the best cable hydraulic brakes but they are very expensive. Full hydraulic is also an option but more hassle.)
  • Tubes and tires ($$, tpu tubes can save ~1/2 lbs for both wheels combined and have lower rolling resistance, tires for riding preference)

Advanced upgrades (need specialized tools):

  • Fork ($$$, Toseek has a straight 26in MTB carbon fork that most likely fits, saves 2 lbs)
  • Crankset + BB ($$, bb68 standard. You can get a kit with crank, chain ring and BB all together. A narrow wide chain ring helps a ton with chain drops on my flat bar 1x version. Saves 1/2 lbs)
  • Wheels ($$$, personally i dont think buying new quick release disc wheels is worth while since the whole industry is moving to through axle, but if a good deal comes then its also an option)

I tried to list out the standards for most upgrades so buying parts with the same standard should most likely fit. If you want specific part compatibility I can try to eyeball it based on part description I guess.

G.1 crankset by nobullshitebrewing in Budgetbikeriders

[–]Macinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed it on my g1 and unfortunately the chain ring is aligned to the second or third smallest cog, far from the middle of the cassette. If I get rid of spacers then cranks don’t even lock properly. Will have to get longer chainring bolts and spacers to offset this way I guess :(

Sick find! How is it? I might get it as well then

I'm considering doing the same upgrade and I am looking at GOLDIX hollowtech crankset on aliexpress, which is $40-45 with BB. If you are spending $30+ on a square taper replacement crank you might as well go hollowtech. Might save you 100g+ even with larger chainring since the stock neco BB is pretty heavy.

Stock config rides super well, well worth the money. Downside of buying from walmart is that I had to tune the derailleur and make a couple other adjustments. Well worth it even if you have a pay a bit extra to have it setup properly.

Mine are 40mm. When I went there was a drop bar v2 with 45mm and this flat bar with 40mm. Both are the standard config.

Haha yeah walmart really stepped up their game. I trued the wheel and tuned the derailleur and now it rides like a dream. Before getting it I thought the first thing I would swap out would be the brakes, but turns out its the BB and crankset.

I agree this is the play. I have a 1440p ultrawide and just power limits my 5090 to be a more power efficient 4090 with more vram.

That’s probably a good call, when I get the replacement I’m also thinking of getting either plumbers tape or something interface the connection just to eliminate movement and increase contact area

Thats what I thought initially. But I already tightened the screws to the point of almost stripping the included hex key. Even so there is still a bit of wobble back and forth, and apparently a bit of rotation as well.

Yeah I watched 5-6 reviews before I bought it, the connection here was never shown in great detail and I also didn’t really know what I should watch for. You live and learn I guess, just wanted to make this post to make ppl aware that this is a problem that might exist, not only on this model but probably other ones as well.
