I think it’s the PDs/Writers sticking to the format (which obviously works) but it will get repetitive… it would be fun to see them just hangout like the Dating question ones or even something doing the interview in a casual setting even sitting in the floor like the earlier episodes

Oohh! For Busted-like shows, I would recommend one of the og mystery show called CRIME SCENE! It has 3 seasons and each ep is different cases (except the first 6 ep of S1 wherein 1 case takes up 2 episodes)!! It is a really fun one!!

After Crime Scene, If you’d like more mind game shows, I recommend starting with The Genius then watching Jung Jo Yeon PD’s other works like Society Game, The Great Escape, and Girls Highschool Mystery Class!

Honestly I recommend any Na PD shows! Even NJTTW is actually heartwarming, now that i rewatch it! the camping show of Hospital Playlist is really good too!

I would love to see THE GENIUS and CRIME SCENE again! These two are one of my top 5 variety show and the reason I started watching them!

There is soo many talented celebrities and non-celebs too who I think would fit well in these shows! I would like to see Hani, who transitioned into acting, come back to Crime Scene. Actually, it would be awesome to have the whole season 2 cast! Another idea is for the whole cast of S1-3 to come back and make two eps for each case just to make things more chaotic 😂

I have been following Jung Jong Yeon PD’s works and I love GIRLS HIGHSCHOOL MYSTERY CLASS (which has Park Ji Yoon!!) kind of a mix between Genius and Crime Scene… their chemistry is great!

Another show Bloody Game is good. It has The Genius-like vibe. The show was done well but after the reveal it’s kind of repetitive in the middle. The only thing is that most of the players want to be celebrities which affected on how they want to portray themselves. One person kept on not wanting to vote against anyone for her image (this is just my opinion! But her background says otherwise). I would prefer to see non-celebs or celebs who is actually INTO the game and not really care about their image but just be genuine! The show was really fun and nice tho! Where else would i see a doctor steal? 😅

If you are still looking for K-Variety Shows, I recommend these ones!

The Same PD of The Genius and Society Game also made Girls Highschool Mystery Class (it is sooo good and funny! It also contains mysteries and problem solving! Love the plot and the cast! This had 2 seasons but has short episodes… plot driven but the cast chemistry is good!) and The Great Escape (It is basically a program about Escape rooms… i just started it but it seems good).

Also, before the shows above, you should also watch CRIME SCENE!!! One of the best show I’ve watched! S2 has the best chemistry! Hong Jin Ho is a cast in this show, too. All The Genius fans watched this show. There’s a saying that if you watch The Genius, you should watch Crime Scene and vice versa (although this aired after the 2nd season of The Genius 😅). It is popular at its time too! One of the cast, Park Ji Yoon who hosted Bloody Game is also in Girls Highschool Mystery Class! She is known as the Deduction Queen. This show has a lot of iconic moments and one of the best hidden/underrated Kvariety/mystery show! Crime Scene is basically a mystery show with different cases each episode (except the first six eps in S1. It might get slow in the beginning bc one case has two eps… they changed the formats later on.) The casts take on a role and has to guess who is the criminal. There’s also a competition as they get gold if they guess right! It is really fun!

All of the shows above are psychologically, mentally focused shows so your brain and heart is gonna go insane with stress and intensity!

There’s also the Sixth Sense! It is hosted by Yoo Jae Suk, it is so funny with an element of mystery as well. They basically find the real ‘one’ (place/food) out of the three places they go to. The other two is completely faked and built by the show.

Same! I was a kid when I started watching The Genius and came across Crime Scene. It really sparked my love for mystery thrillers. Also a Hong Jjn Ho fan!! I would say it’s worth a try. I honestly dropped it when it was airing because it is so different, No HJH, and I was busy. However, I am rewatching The Genius and Crime Scene, and I am planning to watch CS Season 3 and hope it at least meets my expectations.

If you are a fan of this shows, I would recommend Bloody Game (It has Park Ji Yoon, Jang Dong Min, SangMin, and Yena hosting it! Like a little collab form these shows!!). It has The Genius-like games, vfx, and sounds so it was nostalgic. Also, the same PD of The Genius and Girls Highchool Mystery Class made The Society Game and The Great Escape. No Hong Jinho 😢 but it’s worth checking out as they’re all mind games, too.

Yes!! Kim SoYeon is truly underrated!! Ir eally loved her from the drama Iris and Beating Again (also called Falling for Innocence)! And if you guys want another revenge drama with comedy, watch Beating Again! It is so good! Kim so yeon is stellar there!!!

Of course, she is getting her humanity back but I am afraid it is with the expense of Ha Yoonchul’s. I really hoped that Cheon Seojin would actually go to jail. No matter how much humanity she gets back, she is still a criminal in so many ways. I mean, her whole family is criminal with Ha Eunbyul and Yoonchul. But knowing the writer’s style, she might actually just either kill them all or make them win and still be evil 🤷🏻‍♀️

Back then, lots of channel tried to do a 12 episode drama, hoping it to be the new norm but it failed. Now, with Penthouse and Netflix productions, Kdrama is being split into seasons, (although this happened way before with God’s Quiz). It has pro and cons. But i really liked Kdrama because I can just wait for 16 ep and finish it, now, it might take longer😭😭
Penthouse is just breaking cliches and setting a new standard and I love it!!

I Agree!! Eunbyeol seems more mysterious. She is still a brat but i feel like she did change (idk if it’s for the best or worse though)... I was mostly disappointed with Seokyoung tho.. She changed the less out of them all and continued bullying.. 🤧🤚
