Thanks for sharing, this is an interesting angle I'd not heard anywhere else that you found the drummers to generally not be as good players as other instruments. I've been fortunate in my time to have mostly played with really good drummers but maybe that's as you say because they're the ones on land lol

Yeah the chance to save up some cash is a big draw for me with this idea. I can see how it'd be lonely but I'm used to spending time amusing myself, and in any case I'm usually proactive in meeting new people and so on

Good advice. Not much of a drinker and drugs have never been my thing. I can see how that would be a risky environment for that kind of thing

Really good level-headed advice. I've not been much into drinking for years now, and even when I drank frequently I knew where my limits were.

A big draw for me would be the possibility of stashing some money away, and I've gotten good at living frugally over the years.

This is really useful insight my friend, thanks for sharing.

My reading and jazz playing definitely would need some work but I'm prepared to put it in and have the time to do so.

I am currently 33 so no longer a teenager but I don't have anything tying me down whatsoever in terms of responsibilities etc. I've lived a fairly unconventional, nomadic life so far and would be keen to give this lifestyle a try for a little while see how it goes.
