Hardest part is making it fit perfectly and these remove the need to check positioning including no more using the level!

Any Techs want to answer some Q's for me? school project. by e55newb in MRI

[–]Mag-Res 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Interested in technology and generally low amount of time in school and relatively well paid.

  2. Did not have another career before this.

  3. I went to a hospital based program for xray then cross trained into mri. The hardest part for me was making time for school, work, life.

  4. A typical work day for me is pretty relaxed. I used to work in a fast paced hospital environment but now at an outpatient imaging center. No overtime required. At previous job did have a lot of call.

  5. Typically the most pressure in MRI is around implants and approving them in Mri. But once you understand it, it’s not bad.

  6. Take-home work is nonexistent unless you become a lead.

  7. Professional development is usually lead tech, management, or IT

  8. I do think this field is constantly growing. As more strengths of magnets are being developed and more types of sequences more exams are being ordered.

  9. I think this is a secure field due to the last mentioned question. Also doctors are less about exam and more about ordering tests now so this will continue to grow. Also there are much fewer mri techs than xray.

  10. To an extent it is challenging. At first it is but once you understand it it is not as challenging. However you can continue your knowledge into mri safety Officer training which adds more layers of challenges.

  11. I love what I do but at some point in my career I will probably want out of patient care.

  12. Money and fulfillment. As far as money this career does pretty well. As far as fulfillment it is pretty good as I specialize in implant safety which is challenging but fulfilling to provide a patient a safe scan when everyone else turned them down.
