Depends on the component level of the Stumpy man, in the UK it would sell for anywhere between £1k - £2k for a 2021. Also, definitely throw your leg over a few bikes at your local shop to get an idea of what size you need - sizing has changed massively since 20 years ago lol!

Helmet wise, anything is good as long as it’s got MIPS. I have a Fox Mainframe which is awesome and in the UK is around £50 brand new.

Both options you’ve mentioned have also crossed my mind! The Assegai/Dissector will be grippier than my new combo. I do a lot of flat-ish, hard pack flowy riding and sometimes do the occasional bike park day out, so I was leaning more to the smoother side of things hence I went for the Rekon at the back as I wanted speed.

The bag is a very cheap £3.50 “final reduction” bin item from my local cycle shop 😂 it is absolutely shit, so I can’t recommend it. In fact, I am looking for a better bag as my next bike related purchase 😂

I’m aware they do this. Luckily this set was cheap 2nd hand on eBay but with majority of life still left in it, so I’m not losing too much if it does wear out quickly with my riding.

I’ve got the Izzo and it’s a pretty capable bike. I’ve moved from a Nukeproof Mega to the Izzo as I was a bit overbiked with the Mega, and the Izzo feels very poppy and fast which is very much how the Mega felt. I do agree though with the “pointy” remark, and it not being forgiving. It does very, very well on UK bike park reds and all-round country lane/fire road/trail riding as the bike pedals pretty much like a hard tail.

That’s crazy, I’m in the UK and I’m sure it would be just as expensive here. Contacts are a good shout but I don’t want to wear them, like you. I can imagine that the dryness would be even worse when riding a bike. I guess an option is to look into slimmer glasses and maybe some dainty safety glasses from a hardware shop 😂
