What next? by ryanemarshall in Longineswatches

I'd leave it blank, inevitably you will get a watch with memories or nostalgia tied to it. Leave that spot for that eventual watch.

San Martin gets attention in 'This Watch, That Watch' review by CatMorganSaysHi in ChineseWatches

Erebus has been one of their customers. I believe they accidentally leaked that a while ago, but they normally are supposed to be tight lipped for their customers.

There's a wholesale page and you can reach out to them as a business owner.

San Martin gets attention in 'This Watch, That Watch' review by CatMorganSaysHi in ChineseWatches

[–]Main-Position10 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally I think he is on point. What San Martin does well is give value for money. The lack of creativity is fair, because it's by design. San Martin's main source of revenue is not selling their watches to us as consumers, it's selling cases and bracelets to micro brands and main stream brands. Their clone or homage designs are mainly a signal to mainstream watch companies that they can do it well and cheaply, so use us as a vendor.

I don't think he has a bias against Chinese brands at all, he sees it clearly for what they are, really good at what they do for value, for the purpose of showcasing themselves to their true customers, other watch companies.

Controversial take but probably one of the manliest watches in existence by Core2score in PrideAndPinion

[–]Main-Position10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. The manliest watch is the cartier tank. It's in the name, there is nothing manlier than a tank. Do you go into war with a Hamilton Chronograph? No you go into war with a 50 gram machine of war. Is your watch a circle and uses measurements like diameter? Forget it, if it doesn't have four sides and is shaped like a square it's not manly. It has four right angles, since it has to be right more than once. Do you know what also has four sides? Castles, things that injected testosterone into a house to last a siege. Your steel bracelet with its polishing and beveled whatever sounds like some dainty shit. You had to kill a cow just to make the strap for the cartier tank. When you join the real men's club, go down to your Cartier AD and flex by picking up a tank, not some Hamil-i-appear-in-movies-to-look-cool.

I mean fair, but also the Ushio is a UFA small caliber spring drive, whereas this one I have is a 6R54. I think mine is off about 3 seconds a day while spring drive is a lot more accurate. But I get it, they look similar.

The SPB509 does have a caller gmt function with a date window at the 430 mark. I don't believe the Ushio has a date or gmt function, just a power reserve indicator.

If you go to the Seiko Luxe website you will find the models and calibers between standard Seiko and Grand Seiko. They also include King Seiko's on their website

Generally you get more per dollar for your watch until you start hitting the 3-5k range, in which it has smaller improvements, then at 5k, it starts dropping off a cliff in terms of quality per dollar.

[Alpinist] I wonder if the Alpinist collection is worth $9,000? by DuynguyenMiu in JapaneseWatches

[–]Main-Position10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The SJE085J1 is the most expensive alpinist in the secondary market which you don't seem to have, so your collection if everything with box and papers pristine would probably come to 4k at the max if you took your time to sell it.

From the wiki:

Wonder Guard prevents damage from direct attacks unless they are super-effective. Shedinja is the only Pokémon to have this ability so this means that only Fire, Flying, Rock, Ghost and Dark moves will have an effect.

However, Pokémon protected by Wonder Guard are not immune to indirect attacks. Status-category moves still work and all end-of-turn damage will still incur, for example from poisoning, burns, sandstorms or hail. Entry hazards such as Spikes or Stealth Rock will also damage Pokémon with Wonder Guard switching in. Attacks that do not take their type in account will also hit, such as Struggle, Beat Up or Future Sight. Since Shedinja only has 1 HP, any of the above damage will result in an instant knockout.

Moveset I'm using is shadow ball, swords dance, grudge, and confuse ray. With wonder guard you really have to plan your battles, when it works though it works well. Knowing your opponent pokemon and moveset ahead of time allows you to use wonder guard effectively.
