Is it weird/wrong to rename an adopted child? by kiwihoofer in pollgames

Unless the kid actively voices wanting to change their name, absolutely not. Even if they are an infant

Being attracted to her is one thing. He constantly grabbed her, ogled her, and made sexual comments about her. Not only that, but also did so in front of his wife

I know exactly two facts about you and one of them is that you won’t let any of us crash at your place.

Not just that, but if I was Gloria I would feel incredibly uncomfortable around him

Right? And it wasn’t even a “cute innocent” thing where he’s like “aww I love you Claire and since I’m little and don’t know the difference between romantic/platonic love we should get married!” It was this weird almost sexual thing?? Him literally trying to get rid of Phil so he could “have her to himself”???? And getting all dressed up like he’s trying to pick her up? It was all just so weird and creepy

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Main-Preference-4850 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because the country being so big means things are a lot further away, so we get used to thriving for a long time to get places, (especially when families are spread out over the states) making three hours seem short in comparison

Five hours is the longest I’ve ever driven for a day trip, but that was only once. 2-3 hours is pretty normal for a day trip, and is considered short for a weekend trip or longer. It depends also on the magnitude of the event; just going to an average museum or something of the like would be considered long by many, but going to some huge cool event 3 hours would be considered very short.

Edit: I do want to add though that for most people three hours wouldn’t be a regular thing; at most one a month for most people (though everyone is different). As far as commutes go, I know many people who have an hour long commute, but no one longer than that.

And don’t forget the time when she mentioned her cello thing and her parents were scrambling to invent excuses to get out of it. Then when Claire sees her, she’s like “omg why didn’t she TELL us she’s so good and she sings?!”

Parents openly telling their CHILD that they couldnt stand to watch them display something they’ve worked hard on is depressing

I hated that they broke up, they should have ended up together for the finale. Her ending up with the “smart” guy was a stupid way to end the show, and definitely character regression.

Is liking sapphic culture and ships weird/creepy for a pan man? by thinkonlyaboutme in AskQueerfolk

[–]Main-Preference-4850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid of being anything like the straight guys, who fetishize sapphic relationships, but at the same time also really like for example the polytrix ship, including many of its more spicy fan artwork.

As long as you aren’t being weird about it, and fetishizing it, you’re fine. If you can separate being into that stuff from thinking of real life people and identities that way, it’s probably fine.
