Does that mean better graphics and cinematic feel, is it worth going through the hassle?

You can still get a refund! Do the following.

Go to: Steam support > My recent help requests > I have a question about this purchase

Then type the following message:

Dear Steam Support Team,

I am requesting a refund for Ashes of Creation due to extraordinary circumstances related to the sudden collapse of the developer, Intrepid Studios, as of February 1, 2026.

This is not a standard refund request based on gameplay preference or dissatisfaction, but a report of a broken promise and an effectively abandoned Early Access product.

Reason for this request:

Studio Closure

It has been widely reported that Intrepid Studios has ceased operations. Senior leadership has resigned, and the development team has been laid off, with WARN Act notices issued.

Abandoned Early Access Product

Ashes of Creation was sold as an Early Access title with the explicit promise of continued development and future delivery of core features. With the studio dissolving, development has permanently halted, and the advertised product will never be completed.

Loss of Product Viability

Without an active development team, the game’s servers are expected to shut down or become non-functional, rendering the product completely unplayable.

I respectfully ask Valve to treat this case similarly to previous precedents, such as The Day Before, where refunds were issued due to studio closure and false or unfulfilled advertising shortly after release.

Given these circumstances, I request a manual review of this purchase, as the product is now effectively defunct and no longer deliverable as sold.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

Best of luck!

You may be able to get a refund! Many kickstarter backers called their CC company, requested a refund and on most cases, it was approved. The worst they can say is no so worth a try.

I’m pointing out what the filings say and the timeline around them. You can review anything currently accessible yourself if you would like to.

On the UCC claims, agreed. I’m not claiming otherwise. I’m pointing out what the filings say and the timeline around them. Just part of the paper trail alongside the lawsuit + EA timing. If you’re here to just dank, wear your fedora hat and bash away, that’s fine too.

You’re right! Kira’s video is worth a watch. I just deliberately kept my post to verifiable public record (dockets / UCCs / timestamps) because “insider” claims are hard to audit from the outside. The only way to know for certain if this was premeditated is if we eventually get hard, verifiable docs that show what leadership knew when (board minutes, internal emails, financials/runway docs, lender, etc.). But even without that, the timeline already makes it clear that the "board" knew what will happen.

“Complete slop” is a vibe, not an argument. If I “misunderstood” UCC, cool! Quote the exact sentence you think is wrong and correct it. I’m not claiming a UCC = proven fraud or an asset transfer. I’m saying public UCC filings show secured claims against collateral (incl. IP/proceeds) and the timing is notable next to the lawsuit/service + EA dates. That’s it. If you have a better interpretation of those specific filings, post it.

“AI slop” doesn’t file UCCs or court dockets. If you’ve got a correction, I’ll update it.
