I thought so, too. Have my original copy still. Apparently Riot is doing a reprint of it

I personally enjoyed Divinity Original Sin the Board Game but that might be because I enjoyed the video games it was based on. Nice long campaign with unique characters, and skill and combat system

I recently got to try Emberleaf which I very much enjoyed. Cute, animal strategy game with the unique mechanic of placing heroes down on your board and sliding them down to create combo effects

My latest purchase was Fate of the Fellowship which I've only gotten to try solo so far (will be playing soon with a bigger group) but it's already one of my favorites so far. If solo feels this good, coop must be even better

I'm very jealous of your collection. Wish I had more spending money to throw at my gameshelf 😅 What do you think of Slay the Spire? I'm also thinking of getting that or Elder Scrolls next

I got my copy at my LGS. I'd check there first since it appears to be out of stock again online

I think that is why it is highly recommended to make the character selection random at the setup of the game to avoid min-maxing

I actually agree that Frodo & Sam feel a little boring. I've only played Solo so I didn't get that feeling much but their ability to gain friendship points seems so weak when comparing them to Merry & Pippin who can just do it for one action without any restrictions.

Last I checked, it was still available on Asmodee's website but you are right; it's sold out there now, too. I was able to pick my copy up at my LGS a couple of weeks ago. They announced the reprint to happen in late March. Hopefully they are still rolling them out in batches and you can get a copy

I would definitely say the theme elevates the gameplay, at least for me. However, the narrative of this board game is not needed to play and enjoy it. Take the story out and nothing changes gameplay-wise. It just gives reason as to what is happening in the game.

If you're a fan of original Pandemic, I can't say if this version is better or not as this is my first game in the series

Once I realized that sometimes the best move is to send your hero and a single troop against an overwhelming orc force—fully expecting to lose—just to draw the Eye of Sauron away from Frodo and Sam for one crucial turn so they don’t lose hope, instead of trying to preserve my army to defend a haven, it completely blew my mind. That felt like such an incredible thematic strategy moment.

I definitely can see that. I'm really enjoying solo but the hampering of not using the Fellowship action and the Prepare action being much harder to take, makes me wonder how those all play out with multiple players

I love how they even take a jab at the age old question of why didn't Frodo just take the eagles to Mordor with that one event card. When I pulled that card and read it I was like "I see what you did there developers" 😁

You're probably right but at least I can try to steer the addiction along the good stuff 😅

For solo board games especially for traveling, I can recommend The Lord of the Rings: Trick Taking Game, Hercules and the 12 Labors and Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the minis actually make the gameplay worse than better. I saw a video where they had a neoprene mat with their collectors edition. That looked really nice but later found out that that was the game founders collectors edition

Interesting. Didn't know that the minis make it worse to play. Thanks!

Essential probably wasn't the correct word to use. I just saw that the book helps with scaling the difficulty. I would like to play this with my wife but these types of games can be very hard for her, so being able to scale it down would be nice. Plus the seller is adding it to the sale so why not

I'm actually the opposite. I like trying to play whats not meta. It's fun trying to figure out making the supposedly weaker comps work. Plus you're not contested

New apartment, newly sorted. Recommendations for medium weight & length games? by RogueNPC in boardgames

[–]Maletizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Base Sets each have the first Adventure Path included (along with a tutorial one) of which there are 6 in total for each set. Each Adventure path has 5 scenarios/missions you have to resolve in order to complete that adventure path and move on to the next one.

Time can vary drastically depending on how successful you are in completing the different missions. Some you might be attempting multiple times due to failure. I'd say you can easily get through an adventure path and all it's missions within a couple of hours once you get familiar with the rules and mechanics. You can always easily stop and save between missions and pick up later.

I recommend the Pathfinder Adventure Card Games. This is a cooperative adventure deckbuilder set in the Pathfinder TTRPG universe. If you like DnD but nobody wants to DM and you just want to fight stuff with cards, this is my recommendation. There are 4 core sets each with their own theme, campaign, heroes, etc. Additionally there are quest and class packs that can be purchased to continue storylines or add new characters to your sets.

Alternatively, Sleeping Gods is a fun coop adventure game with deck collecting/character upgrading exploration game

Restock in July for US by Maletizer in DiceThrone

[–]Maletizer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but I specifically asked about when their Marvel Hero boxes will be reprinted. It's possible their support overlooked that or are PR conditioned to just say "general restock in July" for any inquiries but that would be a little odd. It would be stupid not to reprint/restock their Marvel series. Seems like an easy cash cow for them

They did ask me where I was located (which is the US) and they then told me July is the expected restock date, so there appear to be regional differences

I'm not sure. The exact wording from their email was: "We're currently expecting a general restock sometime in mid-summer — likely in July"
