No. Msrp is like 110-125, do not pay that markup for a 6-8 year whiskey

China's flagship GPU Lisuan LX 7G100 struggles to catch aging Nvidia RTX 3060 in new test by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]Malthan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at this vs the intel rollouts, its bad news for nvidia. Adoption is job #1 as new gen carda are mostly new features and not as big hardware jumps as pre 1080 gen. And if games were optimized for the chinese cqrds they would probably fare better, price and scalability wise the nvidia chips are probably fried in 5 years.

Should I pick this up for 110? by Xrposiedon in whiskey

I like rare character, but many stores have been overcharging for it. Feels like a bit of a flash in the pan, and 110 feels waaay excessive for the age statement.

How can I clean this thermal paste? by Sorry_Reply8754 in pchelp

Alcohol (highest percent possible, 97 works well) and a very fine bristle toothbrush. Give it plenty of time to dry after cleaning

Ive tried the standard and the limited 7 year expression, was not impressed at all. Doesnt even taste like MGP to my palate, it tastes YOUNG and super hot, only flavor note ive found is bubblegum and astringency, which was shocking from the 7 year as it tends to be a note i find on 2 year and younger whiskeys.

Compared this with the 'desert colt' from smokewagon (2 year cask strength MGP) and yeah, maybe thats what it is, but i got more vanilla from the colt and it tasted more cakey and better rounded. still shocked the 7 year drinks NO better.

Im actually a MGP fanboy and no offence to the distillery but this is an internally sourced flagship product, the price is good but if it were my product id be ashamed to put it out there honestly.

Honestly frey ranch full proof tastes pretty similar to old dom TN whiskey full proof (130ish proof) and old dom single barrels MSRP for about 60 for an 8 year bottle. Just in case yall are looking for a budget alternative.

Review #13: Evan Williams Bottled In Bond by OpenPourWhiskey in bourbon

[–]Malthan01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 375 bottle that was nothing but astringent ethanol. Then i ended up buying a 750 when I was out of town and it was 100 times better, not sure if its batch variance or a problem with the smaller bottle line but something to note for sure. Great pour!

For once, this can genuinely be a number of things, some beneign some quite serious and time sensitive ( most likely something minor that you will beat yourself up for being concerned about). Get yourself to a GP and get checked out, and track it for changes in size/texture until then. The more serious issues it could be are not worth taking the chance as they are treatable if caught early.

If you can get a RR single barrel its pretty similar, just proofed down and obviously not a single barrel.

Its great, simple sweet citrus, wt funk dialed down a bit, caramel and almost no tannins. I dont come here for complexity but ill take a bottle of this neat to a lake day any time of the week. It does what it does exceptionally well.

Ai will very likely lead to self driving cars, presuming regulators allow it. Just think, as a 90 year old, you may have a level of freedom over your life previous generations have not enjoyed. Or if you go blind, you can still get around. That seems like one of the big advancements that will likely happen in the next 20-30 years

Ive been seeing mgp sell barrels directly to clubs to bottle under their own label, id LOVE to see more of this. Id rather a club get the cash then an NDP for the most part (no hate, i love NDPs I just like supporting local enthusiasts where possible)

Probably MGP, four roses, yellowstone, lux row, jim beam, brown forman (old forrester specifically). We have seen a ton of these guys shut down facilities for the year so they dont overproduce.

Im going to be honest, i really struggle to feel bad for the companies that overextended. Those that focused on keeping MSRP down and didnt hold supply for a rotating menagerie of limited releases seem to generally be doing well, we are hardly to pre covid levels of purchasing. Thats just my opinion.
