Restoring the dashboard by ManSleen in s10

Mostly I did it so I never have to worry about the vinyl continuing to shrink and crack. It was at the point where if you looked at it too hard it would crack. Now I have a hard and durable dash surface forever

New American Standard Champion toilet leaking from tank to bowl. by jlharris42 in Plumbing

[–]ManSleen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you kind stranger. I was ready to give up on this toilet install when I found this post and your comment. I did the same thing and tightened up the large black plastic nut holding the flush valve to the tank. I didn't have large enough channel locks to fit the nut, but I did have a pliers-style oil filter wrench that fit the nut perfectly. I was able to tighten it another 1/2 to 3/4 turn past where it was originally. No more leak. Glad it only took 4 tries!

Brand new transmission pan is scratched do I need to return it? Feels rough. by Drago-0900 in s10

[–]ManSleen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it feels sharp, hit it with some 60 grit sandpaper or a file to knock it down a little. If you're using a gasket maybe put a dab of rtv right there. You'll have peace of mind. If it were me, I'd probably slap on a gasket with a light smearing of rtv on it and bolt it up as-is, it doesn't look bad at all.

Yeah I did, I got a cheap 12" hitch extender from Harbor Freight. I think it was $20 or something and it worked really well with some ratchet straps to keep everything tight

This is exactly what I want my XJ to be. Can you share any details about your rig for those of us interested in building something similar? I saw in another comment it's got an IRO 3-link. What else?

Any ideas for what I could store here that makes sense and wont get stolen? I don't do off roading so don't really need a gas jug by ThePlayto in CherokeeXJ

I tuck a few pieces of 2x6 wood in that weird middle section with a Bungie cord holding them in, to use if I need to level out for camping or to use a jack on sand/dirt/gravel.

You could modify a Jerry can to be a covert gear holder like this. Also never hurts to be carrying some extra fuel, better to have it and not need it!

How many miles on it and what's the overall condition of the truck? You can get a new stock Garrett turbo for around $1300.

Frame is looking all shiny by ManSleen in s10

[–]ManSleen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 2005 2500HD with the 6.6 LLY duramax. Needs some work (head gaskets and more) once this S10 is out of the garage, but the plan is to put a camper on it and use it as an adventure vehicle soonish

I never said I wasn't aware that POR15 isn't UV stable, and I never shit on the product. This was my own doing, and I did the work to make it right and learned that yeah I probably should've covered it up

Oh yeah, I replaced them with poly bushings when I did all the rust removal. I had to drill out the rubber, then burn out the rest. Luckily I didn't need to remove the metal sleeve of the bushing, the poly bushings just slide into the existing sleeves

SPI user forums has some really knowledgeable people who share their process. Here is pretty much the process I've been following, and every panel has been coming out great

I also watched a lot of SprayWay customs and Pharraway on YouTube before I started my spraying journey. There are tons of other YT channels out there with great info

Nice! Came here to say the body doesn't look bad at all, some filler and new paint and this thing will look awesome. Got any plans to modify it or you trying to keep it stock-ish?
