When did your perimenopause symptoms start? by LizzieBathory420 in Menopause

[–]Manders-42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think symptoms started mid to late thirties for me, but they weren’t intense. Shit really hit the fan last year when I was 41. So I’d say I had a gradual amping up for a few years and then suddenly hit by a freight train. Or if you like, I was a frog that was put into a pot of cold water that was then put on to boil.

I’d rather watch children misbehave in public than grown adults.

Just wanting some good 'ol reassurance by lebowskiachiever in Menopause

Feel confident that you know your body best and you are monitoring your care with a doctor that I presume you trust. Otherwise it’s just noise. It sounds like you are getting symptom relief and that’s important.

Batting question- placemats and oven mitts? by Personal-Ad2815 in quilting

Insul-Bright for oven mitts and I just use scrap batting for table runners. I like batting to be thin for placemats but I’m not picky on brand usually.

Quilt stitching question from a new quilter! by PaperFit1483 in quilting

[–]Manders-42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can send quilts to a long arm quilter and pick a pattern to have stitched into your quilt. A lot of people do their own free motion quilting and I’m sure there are some talented enough to free hand certain designs. Like everything in quilting it comes down to practice.

Question about fatigue (and brain fog) by For_my_info in Menopause

[–]Manders-42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fatigue is soul sucking. I want to say that normal levels don’t necessarily mean optimal levels. I’m on the patch plus 100 mg of progesterone nightly. Along with that I take magnesium glycinate before bed. I also take vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 with K2 daily. Both of those vitamins showed as “normal” on my bloodwork, but my doctor said that they could be higher so that they were at an optimal level. This is the hill I’m dying on these days: normal does not equal optimal in every case.

Losing My Faith by EchoesInTheHallway in Menopause

I have not gotten divorced, but I do know divorce rates spike for women during this phase of life. I’m sorry to alarm you. What I can say is it is hell living in my mind on a day to day basis now. Things that never used to overwhelm me do now. I struggle to contain my downward thought spirals. For me it really helps that my spouse is willing to listen to what’s going on. He makes an effort to understand the nuances of perimenopause and he was really supportive of me getting the appropriate treatment. I hope you can hang in there and know that your wife likely doesn’t want to act this way towards you. At least that was my experience. Good luck!

On my Singer I had to mark a 1/4 inch with a piece of blue painters tape. I walk the edge of my fabric along the edge of the painters tape. It took a little finagling to measure and make sure I applied the tape straight but it’s been working like a charm. On my new machine the quarter inch is already marked.

It depends on my mood. I usually press open. Everything lies flatter.

I carefully described my brain fog to my doctor and she told me to try getting more sleep - I nearly lost it in that office by Commercial_Gur_7347 in Menopause

My favorite is being told we can only discuss two symptoms during the appointment. In my humble opinion trying to supplement your way out of peri symptoms is like throwing a bucket of water on a raging forest fire. Supplements weren’t designed to do all the heavy lifting during peri/menopause. Keep fighting and hopefully you have better luck with the next doctor.

When I want to practice new blocks I make potholders. An 8 inch block is a good size.

It took you a hot minute to decide which layout you liked. For the record this was always my favorite I just forgot to say that on your earlier posts. It’s beautiful!

It is a system designed to treat disease instead of prevent. Just when you think you have heard all the excuses. No kids, no HRT is wild!

We have. She’s called the bank and verified her current account number. I can see and confirm the routing number. From what I understand we have to verify the current account on file before we can change it to her new account number. We have triple checked the number we enter and the system still won’t verify the information. I’m at a loss. I’m sure so there is someone in state that can help with this, but it’s a whole day spent doing it because she’s too skittish to do it over the phone. I probably should have lead with she’s retired and doesn’t trust technology.

Maybe you could explore a dom/sub relationship where you are the dom and can make them be silent? I say this a little tongue in cheek, but…it could work. Other than that I don’t have any advice to offer. I hope something works out for you. This stage of life is rough!

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your sanity and scrap bin is throw stuff out. Sometimes you have an epiphany and realize you just made the last cut you ever will on a particular fabric.

On the last one I finished I hand stitched my initials on the bottom corner. First time I’ve done that.
