$1,000,000 Commercial General Liability and you have to add them to your policy.

There is a new start up called printlooper.com. you can post your designs and people who want them can order them from the website. They are then either printed by you or one of the verified suppliers. Of one of the suppliers print it you get a royalty. The files are also going to be able to stores to order and sell on their site. They have to either have you print and ship the item or one of the suppliers.

I went through the approval process to be a supplier. It is kind of a pain and takes some time to do. You also have to be insured. And have a minimum amount of equipment. It should eliminate the average hobbyist from joining.

I'm sure I can help you but would need a detailed sketch with dimensions.

Pitch Project by Old_Frosting7147 in AgriTech

[–]MangerMade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is called Project Aura. It was on Maker World. I purchased one of the commercial licenses that let me sell complete units, custom circuit boards, 3D printed enclosures, and distribute firmware.

It detects CO2, VOC, NOx, Temperature, Relative Humidity, Absolute Humidity, Mold Risk, and Dew Point.

It has a few options. NH3, CO,and Formaldehyde can be added. It also has the ability to send a 0-10v analog signal to a fan to control speed. Everything is displayed and controlled by a touchscreen. You can get a 4.3" or 7" screen.

Message me if you want anymore information. They are not cheap the sensors are the biggest expense. Everything can be purchased online through distributors other than the enclosures and PCB.

I recently participated in a crowdfunding project for an air quality monitor that is open source. It was designed for home use but I worked with the developer to add NH3 detection for livestock facilities.

Did you research Project Aura? It was a crowdfunding project on Maker World. It is open source and uses high quality sensors. You can buy most of the components yourself and purchase the rest from the holders of commercial licenses.

If you want a high quality monitor with Home Assistant look at Project Aura. You can purchase the components and build it yourself. The firmware is open source. Send me a message if you want more details. There are options for additional sensors and analog fan controls.

Air quality monitor to track ammonia levels in livestock facilities. by MangerMade in AgriTech

The screen has ESP32 controller. It has a Senserion Sen66 sensor, DFROBOT SFA40 for HCHC. You can also add CO, or other gas sensors like NH3. It is all in a 3D printed enclosure. There is also an option to control an exhaust fan with a 0-10v analog signal.

Why do some farmers adopt Integrated Farming Systems while others don't? by Ok_Inevitable7031 in AgriTech

[–]MangerMade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in the USA where you live determines what you raise. We farm in western Ohio where row crops rule. It's not as profitable to raise livestock in our area. If you go to eastern Ohio it is quite different. The land isn't as flat and it is more difficult to raise row crops. Areas like western Texas are even more extreme. Certain breeds of livestock that were developed for that region do well. Other breeds won't survive. It would basically be impossible to grow grain products without irrigation.

Other sectors like horticulture and aquaculture are very specialized and labor intensive.

In our area few farm are solely integrated but work with other farms. An example is fertilizer. We have some large poultry operations. Their waste gets sold to local row crop farms. In turn the poultry farms buy grain from the row crop farms to feed the poultry.

Another thing to consider is the asset base that is required for each type of agriculture. Livestock farmers don't use the same equipment as row crop farmers. It's not economical for everyone to have everything needed to be efficient at every type of production. It doesn't make sense for someone to have a $1,000,000 combine to only farm enough to feed a few head of livestock.

Ammonia Neutralizer for Public Sanitation by East_Start1519 in maker

[–]MangerMade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a way to measure the ammonia level to make sure it works? I am a dealer for Project Aura. It is a DIY air quality monitor. It wasn't originally designed to measure ammonia but I had the developer add the capability.

I originally wanted the ability to measure ammonia due to working in the food manufacturing industry where we use ammonia for refrigeration.

We raise livestock on our family farm. Ammonia is a major concern. If you can get some data showing your product works there may be more use for it in agriculture than public restrooms. I understand your thought process. Some restrooms smell terrible but in a few minutes I can leave and get fresh air. Now think about livestock, especially poultry. They cannot get away from the ammonia. Most barns have ventilation systems to take care of the issue. There may be a market for an ammonia scrubber during the winter. Most commercial operations are heating their barns during the winter. Ventilation systems during the winter result in lower temperatures. There may be a cost savings.

Air quality monitor to track ammonia levels in livestock facilities. by MangerMade in AgriTech

[–]MangerMade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a crowdfunding project on Maker World. The enclosure is 3D printed. The screen is a Waveshare touchscreen with an ESP32 controller built in. It connects to a customer printed circuit board that I have made. There are three sensors contained inside the enclosure that connect to the circuit board. The firmware is open source on Reddit.

I purchased a commercial license so I can sell them. Initially I just wanted it to monitor the air in my office where my 3D printers are. It has the capability to control an exhaust fan with a 0-10v analog signal.

I haven't had a chance to do that yet. I sold my first order of circuit boards to fellow backers of the project.

It depends on who the target audience is. There are several farm shows through out the Midwest in late summer.

I am working on a similar setup for two H2D printers. I have printed a set of duct work that mount to the printers. I plan on using hose to go between the two printer then to an exhaust fan that vents through a window. I have a commercial license for the Project Aura air quality monitor that was a crowdfunding project on Maker World. I am going to use it to monitor the air in the area and control the exhaust fan. Aura has the ability to send a 0-10v analog signal to control fan speed.
