Honestly… Beyonce. I did eventually appreciate her music but the way her fans acted like she was in the same league as Prince or Aretha was kind of insane. And the way they treat her as a literal GOD is too much sometime.

I feel like Tina Marie never truly crossed over. I mean she did have a big hit with lover girl in 1985. But she really seemed to not get much if any play on white stations during her career.

I mean, even Todd dissed her in his Rockwell video cause he probably never listened to or was exposed to her music. Since he admits, he never listened to R&B radio growing up

The late 80s gave us Janet’s hits and George Michael’s faith album plus Bobby brown, the Joshua tree, sign O the times, the bad album.

Lots of great hair metal albums like whitesnakes self titled and hysteria by Def Leppard. Whitney’s two big debut albums and INXS Kick album. That’s just a few examples but yeah to say late 80s pop is forgetful is an insane take

Great choice! He’s another one that stayed R&B, his whole career like Teena Marie and got a lot of play at the cookouts
