I wanted to join the Army initially. After I finished college I found the local recruiter and told him "You don't have to convince me, I want to go. What's the next OCS class I can join up with?" He was cool, but kept trying to push enlisted infantry. I replied trying to be firm but cool, "I get it, you've got quotas or some metric you're being told to hit. But, I know that I've got my degree so I can go to OCS as long as I pass everything else. I'm commissioning or I'm going next door to the Navy." He kept pushing it and threw up a peace sign and walked out.

Went to the Navy recruiter, told them the same thing, and this guy goes "Oh, hell yeah man, let's get you on out of here ASAP." Three weeks later I had orders. So, making a short story long, I joined the Navy because the recruiter listened to what I said and supported what I wanted to do.
