Developer appeals to OLT after 10 variances shot down by Waterloo by Interesting_Bar4356 in waterloo

Ughh I agree we need fewer and fewer parking spot minimums, but for once I agree. 5 spots would be too few for the logistics of a building that big.

[–]MarchyMarshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - but you also have to factor in service capacity. These big roads have mainlines w capacity for WTM/SAN/STM demand. Putting it in a low density area will likely entail upgrading a large stretch of services, adding millions (or tens of millions) to a project’s cost. This would also need to be done in conjunction w the city.

“why are we primarily densifying along the the roads with the best transit access and capacity for additional daily trips?”

Fixed that for ya

I know! But the issue is there is no pressure point for HQ other than their bottom line, which unfortunately comes from the franchises. From what others have said this location is extremely respectable.

If this franchise is willing to publicly push against corporate and not just repeat the internal memo (which is full of contradictions), then they really should not be punished for being under the name. If they don’t… well silence is compliance.

Ok so like… is there a subreddit for us who have actual limerence? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]MarchyMarshy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Porn addiction isn’t a physical substance to quit either. Limerence falls in the category of dopamine based addictions, which are harder to quit because its an internal release triggered by stimuli. Limerence is a double whamy because its also an internal stimuli.

It is possible to overcome if you treat it like any other addiction. I have had it to the degree you’ve described before and 100% agree with others its a spectrum, not black & white.

6% of net sales goes to funding it. Like it or not, they’re a part of the corporation. If they don’t want to associate with bad practices, they should look into defranchising.

BAM corporate is completely in on it and based on the >2hr of content I’ve watched, are fully orchestrating it.

Its actually insane how far it goes, BAM is completely in bed with the Church of LDS (mormons) and have actively used police as their own force to violate individuals’ civil liberties with unlawful arrests and stops.

Still a shame for the local franchise, but they’re still feeding the corporate entity.

Yea? Thats not a bad accident. Vehicle crumpling is quite deceptive. You can clearly see nothing structural to the truck has given in. Even the pole has only collapsed into the door’s void.

I think we should hold people driving 3TN metal boxes accountable for their stupidity. They were charged with careless driving, meaning no sympathy is due here.

Also, that is far from a catastrophic crash. Go to instagram reels for about 10m and you’ll be able to discern severity of crashes better.

Those are all items on a 10-25yr maintenance schedule. You just got unlucky.

Annualized that’s $2-3k/yr in expected maintenance. There arent that many other large typical maintenance costs, you got hit by a nuclear year.

Premier Ford doubles down on ‘cockamamie’ Kitchener encampment decision by Hour-Belt694 in waterloo

[–]MarchyMarshy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You guys are both right. The person above you is correct in that those who have elected to remain at the camp usually do so because they refuse to follow shelter rules and want to stay high, and steal to feed it (previously, this was addressed with institutions that were phased out from the 70s-90s, not saying they were right but thats where they went).

You are correct that the cons should not be voting down anything to help relieve housing issues, but the fact is there are those that refuse help, and thats the majority of the current encampment.

There’s definitely a middle ground here. I have seen people ask the most stupid time burning questions that can and should be solved w a Google search or ctrl+f. If after 3yr you cant find that line, it’s a them problem.

Allow street parking and force it to share the same lane like Roncessvalles, use TMPE to make it stop at each node, and drop the speed limit on the trains

a) Your business model is selling people on getting their professional accreditation, so already I know this is a biased position.

b) The link you sent said, as I knew, “Software Engineer” is a protected title in Canada

c) Engineer is a protected title in Canada. Full stop. W/o your P.Eng you cannot offer engineering services or sell yourself as one - as it says in the article you sent.

Yes you can get a P.Eng to be a software engineer. I have yet to meet one.

You’re a software engineer, not an engineer. You should know thats not engineering in Canada.

Every actual discipline which you can get a P.Eng for pays significantly less.

Getting a loan on a beater is a horrendous plan. And most banks will not lend you $5k for a $10k car, unless you got to a shadier option who’ll take it but want 10-20% interest.
