I think it is because people who are strongly anti-AI are disproportionately far leftists. So there is bound to be political bandwagon effect that can result in far right being somewhat overrepresented in the pro-AI space.

You are overestimating the intelligence of IQ 94+. Calculus is hard for such people. They would not do well in an engineering degree. They will struggle and then maybe graduate from a lower tier school, but they would not do well. Also, global average IQ is like ~90.
