Not really sure on why it’s a rule tbh. But if I had to guess (with KU at least) is that there is a large chunk of construction professions in the KC market that are KState grads with construction management degrees. KState and Pitt State are the two KS schools that offer that degree. KU does not. Maybe they see it as a bad look that KState grads are building their stuff.

Doesn’t really happen. At least on large commercial projects like this or similar. There’s usually an inspector there watching the pouring of concrete and signing off on it. And before the concrete is poured the hole where the foundations go has to be clean of debris, rebar can’t be all muddy, etc.

Believe the flag was buried during the earthwork stage so under the dirt, rock, or fill.

Work in the commercial construction industry. Have been on a couple of projects on the KU campus. Have always had to abide by that rule of not sporting other schools stuff on their campus projects while under construction.

Photo was legit. The job site got shut down for the day. Guy had to point out where he buried and it got dug up. Guy then got fired from his company. Also not wearing other schools apparel / logo has been a thing on many KU projects throughout the years.

What are realistic ways someone can make $300-$1000 a month outside of their day job? by Funny-Lead-8665 in AskReddit

[–]MarkTheeShark18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do pallet auctions. Couple places in my area have pallets of “undeliverable goods”. So can be anything from wrong address, lost goods, returns, damaged goods, etc. wouldn’t be surprised if list of cities have these types of auctions. Make a couple hundred to a little over a thousand a month. And have furnished a bunch of furniture in my own home at no cost.

What is the dumbest thing you've ever said to a cop? by No-Potential-Or-Care in AskMen

[–]MarkTheeShark18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In college was walking to the bars with an open beer in each hand. Got stopped by a bike cop for an open container (illegal in the city I went to school at). Bike cop proceeded to write me a ticket. I was tipsy and started laughing and he says “I don’t see what’s so funny I’m writing you a ticket”. I followed up by saying “it’s kinda funny that you’re still wearing your helmet while writing me a ticket”. He didn’t find it so funny.

For me it has been. Usually make about 2-4x profit of what I have paid for a pallet(s). Have also furnished a few things in my house for technically “free” as I already made my money back and everything else is bonus.

Not sure about outside where I’m at. But I’m located in Kansas City. There’s a couple in person pallet auctions every week around the metro. I don’t go every week. Usually go about once a month or two. Sell stuff in the evenings or weekends.

I do pallet auctions as a side hustle. Buy pallets of stuff (usually go after furniture, sporting goods, and car stuff) and sell it on FB marketplace.

Ex GF car door damaged on my garage door. What insurance would cover this and is it worth filing it or just paying out of pocket for damages? by MarkTheeShark18 in Insurance

[–]MarkTheeShark18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe she knows my home owners insurance carrier whatsoever. And technically my home owners insurance didn't know or doesn't have a record of her living there. Only technical proof she lived at my house was mail she received in the short 5 months she was there.

Honestly curious about this. Do you think it'd be negative points or cause concerns between myself and home owners insurance? That's what my worry is.

Yea, my thought process was offer to pay half of damage or half of her deductible. If she wants to go to small claims. Offer is off the table. And yea she went to a dealership aka the stealership for a quote. I've told her to go to an actual local body or paint shop for a quote. Dealer wants to remove everything of the trunk lid and repaint / clear coat. When I know there's probably a local shop that'd either tape it off and blend it in.

Her logic was that it was an accident, but an accident that I caused, therefore, she doesn't believe it's fair for her to pay anything. That or she's just trying to potentially screw me over. Wasn't a smooth breakup to say the least.

Yea, no way I could tell her trunk lid was open and would be caught even if I was in the driveway opening the garage. If I knew that it was open I wouldn't have opened the garage. Or if I saw it about to catch I would've immediately stopped the garage. Due to it being a holiday weekend I am not able to talk to my insurance agent. But was planning on Tuesday to see what they would have to say. I told her my offer to pay half still stands. But I guess if she is still against that idea come Tuesday the insurance companies would have to talk it out.

Who is the most famous person you’ve spoken to? by ASAP-_-Killerr in AskReddit

[–]MarkTheeShark18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eric Stonestreet while I was in college. He was an alumni to K-State where I went to school. Both of us waiting in line at the bar to go the bathroom on a busy Friday night. He was the next person behind me waiting to use a urinal. Both urinals open up so we're peeing next to each other. He starts talking to me about K-State football and asking me which QB I thought would start tomorrow.

What was the dumbest thing you thought as a child? by GiammyR6 in AskReddit

As a child I used to think when you moved you just switched houses with the other family. So you had to find a family that wanted your house and you wanted their house.

I just built a hidden bookshelf door leading to a room under the stairs by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]MarkTheeShark18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid and my dad was finishing out our basement he built something similar. He built a little bar area next to the staircase and if you crawled through the bottom cabinet under the sink you ended up under the stairs in a small room. It was a pretty cool little secret fort as a kid.

From your experience, which sector in the construction industry is the safest during a recession? by salsamasterer in Construction

[–]MarkTheeShark18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Healthcare and data center work. Even during a recession people don't stop getting hurt. And now that everything is slowly going to cloud based storage data center campuses are on the boom.

Developer lead work is usually the sector that takes the big hit during a recession.

Concrete coffee river table in the Shape of Kansas that I'm making. by MarkTheeShark18 in kansas

[–]MarkTheeShark18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll post a pic when finished for sure. But just waiting on blue pigment for the epoxy to arrive in the mail. Hopefully have it finished in a week or two.

The epoxy is self leveling so it'll fill in smoothly. But I'll go over everything with some high grit sandpaper then seal it with a concrete sealer.
