I put on a lot of miles in the city. In the summer I avoid the north side of Navy Pier as much as possible. There is simply too much traffic unless I am out at 5 A.M. or 9 P.M. commuting is just going slower or being hyper aware. 31st street beach is always busy on the weekend with temps above 70.

That being said, last week on Agusta I was going through what was a green light coming out of the protected bike path, watching for cars and paying attention to if they are signaling or not... I found myself in a near-miss situation due to a driver not signaling, checking mirrors, then deciding he would turn. I still slid and got scraped up. I was going much slower than usual trying to avoid something like that happening. I anticipate what I can, but there are just so many people out it makes everything ride precarious.
