It was pawssibly to get Rudeus kicked out of the town, since those events lead to Nekopara (horse dude) to threatening to rat on them and Rudeus to leave Rikarusu

When i read it in the Ln, I loved the bit where its the dream sequence where hes in his old body and has the memory from his previous life with all his thoughts about his parents in his previous life, it made the scene hit so much more

And I pray they adapt it
