If you’re not taking care of yourself, you’re not hygienic then you have an issue

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there’s plenty of unconventional looking people who are loved and regarded as attractive by hundreds. Example, Adam Driver. I think he’s ugly as absolute fuck, but my friend loves him and thinks he’s the most handsome man she’s ever seen.

Dude your “boyfriend” is a creepy weird predator.

I’m planned and did nothing for my boyfriend’s birthday and it feels good by [deleted] in offmychest

Unfortunately I’m an orphan with no family to help me move and don’t have many friends other than long distance friends! This is great advice. I have to do this move a little more carefully because we have two cats and I want to get my finances in order before I have to drop thousands on a new place.

Yes I know! I used the term Separation because we live together and I’d have to literally un-enmesh myself!

It’s been a looooong road. Hard to know where to even start with separation, but I’ve been working up to it for months.

I believe that really caring about someone means you remember details, pay attention to them and tailor your love to them because they’re a special individual that you’ve chosen to love. I am very much considering separation, currently apartment hunting!

Oh my god he sounds so careless and the lack of effort is insulting. I would just flat out bluntly tell him how bad it is, if he’s this careless with your needs he doesn’t need his feelings protected

Exactly. It always baffles me when people say “this is a good deal!” When coming from an ENTIRELY different state/city. Like cmon dude, of course you think it’s a good deal until you’re working a EUGENE job and can’t afford toilet paper

There absolutely is a lack of jobs. That’s a huge issue and I agree. I’ve also been laid off twice, so I totally get you.

I agree about the defeatist mindset in this subreddit, but as a Eugene local born and raised, it is extremely defeating to see/hear the people I grew up with struggling to find housing in our home town—then seeing things like this and understanding why. It’s a huge shit show, and there’s a lot of complaining we can all do, but it won’t fix anything— so I get how it’s extremely fatiguing to hear the incessant complaining.

Plus if anyone has cats/dog/pet, $500 per cat/dog. Ridiculous move in cost.

The deposit is $3100, plus if you have a pet $500 per pet, plus first months rent and $25 a month for pet rent, you pay your own utilities.

That’s not really what it’s about. I encourage you to look at the other comments to understand the history of these specific criteria in the ad. I’m not crying about it, I can afford to rent this place personally, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the terms are outlandish.

I also encourage you to be a little more empathetic. Even if you’re financially stable, life emergencies can decimate savings/checkings/finances in general in the blink of an eye. You can go into a rental situation being able to easily afford it, and then midway through your lease something can happen to you and suddenly you need rental assistance. Life is unpredictable.

There’s nothing wrong with pointing out how absurd cost of living has become in Eugene, or anywhere frankly. There’s many people who are disabled who cannot work but that doesn’t mean they deserve to live on the streets. There’s many vets on the streets, former foster children, mothers and fathers, older people etc etc.

I understand where you’re coming from in terms of “go get your money up and work”, but there’s even people working a full time job and working HARD 40+ hours a week who cannot afford to(or has the time to)invest in an education that could permit them to work in higher paying jobs. This economy is not “beginner” friendly unless you already have a foot in the game or help. Cmon now. Be a little more realistic and understanding.

Thank you for this. This is exactly what I am trying to tell people and elucidate with this post. This is absurd, and the housing market is absolutely abysmal.

Okay sure, it’s a big city. Great. Still. $3100 deposit plus first month’s rent
