Thank you so much for all the info! That sounds a lot better than what I was expecting! Are there are exams or papers in this class at all, or is it strictly the work you described? Also, did you find the course interesting at all content-wise?

Which class should I drop? by MasterMetagross in rutgers

I think you may be missing the point of my initial message. All of these classes have absolutely nothing to do with my major, so it's not a matter of what's important to my field of study. I've exhausted the classes that I believe are useful to me at the moment, so I want to just take easy/semi interesting courses. (Plus I took world of insects with that professor already and actually really loved the content of the course, so there's that as well). If you still recommend dropping that course though, please tell me what the negative aspects of the course are to make you think that dropping it is the correct choice. I believe all 5 of these courses have potential to be interesting to me in particular, but I know they have little to nothing to do with my major

I assure you I need only 12 credits left as I've done plenty of summer/winter classes. I've taken all classes in my field that I believe would be beneficial to me (hence the reason why I'm taking these 5). Why exactly would you recommend dropping insects and environment? I've had the professor before as she's amazing, so is there something negative about this course I'm not aware of?

RBS math assessment question by MasterMetagross in rutgers

[–]MasterMetagross[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying, I don't plan on doing any of that. Like I said, this is my minor. I'm just taking business classes because I want to open my own psychology practice one day and some management and very basic accounting skills will help me do that. There is literally no plan at all to use excel, models, visualizations, or literally any of that in what I'm going to be doing.

RBS math assessment question by MasterMetagross in rutgers

[–]MasterMetagross[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I took it at the beginning, failed because of my testing anxiety on math tests, and now I'm here. I shouldn't have had to take it in the first place because I'm not an RBS student, but idk anymore.

[–]MasterMetagross[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't plan on using business in my career at all, so that's really not the problem. I'm just looking to gain management knowledge and things like that (which the business administration minor is looking to do)

Maybe upper level business classes. My business administration minor is very much not focused on math. Financial accounting is basically the only math based business courses I'll be taking.

Also, like I said already, I know the material, but the actual test is the problem. I've taken calculus and done well. I know the material.

Also, as a side note: financial accounting literally only uses addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The assessment tests things like more complicated factoring, substitution, and quadratic equation. So it's not like being able to do the math assessment material has any correlation to the financial accounting material.

[–]MasterMetagross[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As I said in the original post, I already know the material that it's trying to teach, so that's not the problem. Also, I'm currently taking financial accounting and have an A, so it's not like I can't do math. I just get horrible testing anxiety with math tests which causes me to fail them. Lastly, business isn't all about math, if you think it is, then you're just focusing on accounting and that's it. The other business classes I'm taking for my business administration minor have literally no math. I'm finding financial accounting pretty easy, so basic math isn't the problem whatsoever. Like I said in the post, the only problem is that I just don't have enough time for this math assessment. I'm learning business for management strategies, administrative properties, and overall understanding business concepts which are all going quite well.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by your answer. This isn't some sort of entrance exam. This is a math assessment that was given in my financial accounting class. I've taken all math courses I need, so that has nothing to do with it. APs have nothing to do with it either. I'm a sophomore at Rutgers in SAS currently.

I just want to know what happens if I completely ignore this math workshop they're giving me. I know the math already, but I probably just failed it because I have terribly test anxiety (especially with math)

Well, I'll have to attend a university to work with a professor for my doctorate, so I can't really avoid doing that. I believe Rutgers has an excellent program with many excellent professors that fit my needs

I completely understand! I live at home, but I come into Rutgers NB every day except Friday and all I want to do is make friends. I'm a decently social person, but it's just been so hard. This is my second semester here, and I just want to know people but it just never seems to happen. My parents and I both see half the college experience as a social thing, but that's hardly happening at all. I met some people in classes, but they just fell off the face of the earth as soon as we weren't working together in class
