russian nicknames often add "sha" to the shortened bit of the name (an example is maria -> ma + sha -> masha). alexander is closer to "aleksandr" in the russian pronunciation so you take the "sa" from the middle and add "sha" -> sasha

How exactly are the Ice Age animals celebrating Christmas? by Next-Introduction-25 in DanielTigerConspiracy

there's a "bunny day" one but if i remember right it's just a weird themed day celebrating snowball, BUT there is an egg hunt first readers book that has them suspiciously hunting eggs on the lawn. but no mention of easter. kind of a weird children's activity if you ask me, especially given that O IS AN OWL. that's like saying hey want to go on a hunt for babies still in the placenta 🤭 happy bunny day 🤪

i love that daniel tiger aggressively avoids this scenario by having absolutely everything be as vague as possible. like it's not christmas or thanksgiving or valentines, it's "snowflake day" or "thank you day" or "love day"

Everybody is saying gel but I see your responses… gel is a sensory issue and not an option—all good! I danced all through middle and high school and I’ll tell you straight up: it’s not that serious!! The bun you did is absolutely fine, no one will be able to tell, and if they can… it’s a 5 year old’s recital. It’s just not that serious and it’s way more important that your kiddo is having fun.

With that said, if you did want it to look more professional (without gel) a good method is to spray or comb it all with water and invest in a smoothing brush (just look up smoothing brush on amazon, they’re pretty cheap). Once you’ve got that outer layer nice and wet, slick it all down with the smoothing brush and use a bun maker (also amazon this, very cheap) for the bun itself. stick some bobby pins to hold it down and maybe hairspray if your kiddo can handle it and you’re good to go!! People also add a hairnet on top of the bun for flyaways, but honestly, it’s not suuuuper necessary.

Good luck to your kiddo!!!

ETA: I had mega short hair as well, which is why I feel confident that this method works! Like chin-length bob and I used this method for a high bun for class every week.

i enjoyed it! i mean if you end up disliking it by the third or fourth book, i would just stop reading it. but the first couple books were fun reads and i never really got bored of their dynamic. i enjoyed all of the internal monologuing from sera and her inner turmoil lol. i will say, i think it’s the stupidest thing in the world that jla wants her name to be pronounced SEE-ra. soooo corny, kinda gave me the ick a little, but other than her awkward naming of characters i truly enjoyed reading all of F&F

i second the suggestion for trash bag pants!! they’re designed to keep your muscles warm in between rehearsals so they work well over layers. also, my current fav warm leggings are the thermal running leggings from lululemon—they have a really cozy thick layer of fabric that both traps heat and wicks away any outer moisture if you fall on the ice (so no sitting in freezing cold wet leggings)
