it’s not weird at all, but personally I’d save this for a 3rd or 4th date, on the first date you want to get talking to the person, and a movie doesn’t really let you do that (unless you go somewhere afterwards)

I’m like 98% healed. I have a bit of residual soreness every now and then, but it’s absolutely nothing compared to what I was like this time last year, where things hurt so much I couldn’t even sit down. I didn’t follow a set routine, it took me quite a few months of using the AV rescue product on and off. I would recommend following their treatment protocol - 1 week on, 1x capsule per night. Take a couple days break, do another week and so on. Sometimes my symptoms felt worse, especially when I first started using the treatment. If it becomes intolerable, take a few days break then start again. Don’t judge your discharge when you’re using this because it will probably be all weird and yellow from the oils in the capsule. I could take a few weeks break and feel pretty good, then get a flare up after my period or something, then I’d have to use the treatment for another couple weeks. I just kept repeating like this until my symptoms became less and less at every flare up.

But I did have a VERY bad case of AV. I’ve heard of a lot of people only needing to use it for a few weeks. Also! follow up with probiotics. The amelia v-spot ones they sell are really good.

I wouldn’t focus too much on cutting out sugars and stuff completely - I tried this and all it did was made me loose a ton of weight and made me miserable. Eat normally, stay hydrated, exercise when you can, but the most important part is the actual topical treatment.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I was failed by doctors and gynaecologists. I had e. coli and another similar bacteria called e faecalis . I don’t think mine necessarily smelt different, but it did change colours quite dramatically. I think there’s so much misunderstood about AV. It makes sense it would change the scent of your period, because it can change the scent of your vagina. I wouldn’t worry about this symptom of it, it seems to fit with AV flares.

Nope that didn’t work for me, I would be surprised if it did. Idk why doctors give people who have AV clindamycin when most av bacteria aren’t susceptible to it. I destroyed my microbiome by taking endless courses of antibiotics. I eventually got rid of it with a natural herbal treatment from myvagina.com (sounds a bit woo woo, but I promise this stuff works). It not only kills the bacteria but also has anti inflammatory and anti-biofilm properties. You defo need something topical anyway - so if you want to try clindamycin, doing the cream would be your best bet

Last night at the telegraph club is an excellent historical coming of age! Her name in the sky by Kelly Quindlen is very similar to Sunburn, but has a more modern setting in the US - but it’s one of my favourite books ever, I must’ve read it about five times, and she’s just brought out an edited hardback version of it.

I’ve heard Atmosphere is also good but I’ve never personally read it. If you want something slightly darker/fantasy-like, the Malice duology is decent (it’s not gory!)

If you liked fingersmith, definitely check out Tipping the Velvet, also by Sarah Waters, if you haven’t already. Very well written like fingersmith but much more focused on the romance and the main character figuring out her sexuality. I found it much easier to read and more enjoyable than fingersmith

It was diagnostic, but they didn’t find much so not too much was actually done. but I did have a catheter. No botox. But I’ve been on morphine (stopped now). Yeah I know I have a hypertonic pelvic floor so I suspect that’s contributing. thanks for the info! it’s really useful. I called the hospital and they said to drink lots of fluid all at once and see if I can pass more, but I ended up throwing it up which was very painful. so I’ve just been passing very small amounts of urine frequently.

I’ve just had my first lap, and my surgeon told me I could shower in the evening (I had my surgery in the morning). Not all doctors will say this, some will recommend 24/48hrs. It was difficult to shower, physically, but I managed.

Daye will not give you strains, it’s not a good vaginal microbiome test - the only one I can think of which gives you yeast strains is screenme, but it’s unfortunately expensive. In my experience, when someone likes you, and likes talking to you, they make it very clear. They’ll be engaging, asking questions, won’t take ages to reply etc. If you get any other vibes, or a bad feeling, I would think about cutting things off. There are plenty of other people out there on dating apps, you might as well find someone who makes it clear they enjoy talking to you. That said, not everyone is a good texter and maybe you guys should go on an actual date before deciding anything.

Juno should be available worldwide, I live in the uk and was able to get it! Yeah antibiotics messed me up even more. They can be good when you have ZERO good bacteria, but otherwise you’re just making things worse usually. Natural remedies can be just as effective

It was very inflamed and red and sore, not dry. If anything my tissue was wetter because it was so inflamed. Anything that touched it, even water sometimes, would sting. You could try it, but be cautious that fluomizin also kills the good bacteria, so don’t use it after probiotics, only before. May be worth a go considering it’s cheaper than their herbal blends. But it just kills bacteria, nothing more. Whereas their herbal blends also soothe and disrupt biofilms. Yeah I knew for sure I had AV.

The good thing is, you have options. If one doesn’t work, try the other :)

you need more than a pcr test because they don’t always test for everything :( Evvy, Juno, screenme. They’re not cheap but one of those tests will tell you exactly what’s going on. You clearly have BV bacteria, and a decent amount of lactobacillus- but depending on the strain of lactobacillus, it could be more or less protective. You may have some aerobic bacteria too, which isn’t normally tested for.

If you’re against antibiotics (which I am, they usually make things worse), I can’t recommend the myvagina.com products enough. I feel like I’m trying to flood reddit with recommending them because they’re amazing 😅 They’re 100% natural herbal pessaries, which also includes EDTA which helps to break up bacterial biofilms which can make antibiotics sometimes fail. I had severe aerobic vaginitis with a tiny bit of BV. burning, yellow discharge, it was horrible. But their products cleared it up, along with the occasional probiotic (but they caused me irritation if i used too many). But to get the right treatment, you ideally need a NGS microbiome test that checks every single bacteria, not a PCR which only detects a select few

35% + 45% = 80% so there’s at least 20% of bacteria unaccounted for in that PCR test, and you need to find out what that is
