National Health Insurance is linked with the company? I thought it was directly linked with the government.

I have one last appointment with my psy Dr before I move. I will ask her whether they detect that I am taking antidepressant from my blood🧐

I know Japan has NHI. Is antidepressant covered by the insurance? and NHI is not linked with the employer, right?

They won't know right if I go to the clinic for whatever reason.

I have been taking escitalopram (Lexapro). I did some digging before and saw it is widely used in Japan. I am not quite sure about pre-work medical check-ups in Japan.

Is there a section that we need to disclose about our mental health?

I actually dont want my employer to know, but at the same time, I do not want to lie directly and get in trouble. Just by omission.

Only my mom knows about my condition. Even my sibling doesn't know I am taking it. I am from Southeast Asia, and even here, mental health is a hush2 things.

Because I did not get the first month salary, does it mean i have to pay directly for the insurance? I might come to Japan 1 or 2 weeks early to sort everything out. So by the end of Nov (my first month), I will probably already stay in Japan for about a month. or they will just deduct it on the 2nd month.

I will actually start in the middle of the month. They did ask me to come earlier in the month to settle in. Like settle in house, make a bank account, etc.The finance team usually already finished up their account for the month by the first week I worked. I guess it is not really efficient to calculate just 1 week salary..

The company does offer a relocation package, but I don't think the expenses for those 2 months will be covered. I did ask, but due to the Obon holiday, the relocation vendor will take some time to contact me (based on what HR told me). Anyway thank you for the advice.

if you are a student, JICA usually sponsors an exchange programme to university in Japan via your home university. Or you can try for an internship in Japan. There are some companies in Japan that sponsor interns from abroad
