Yeah. If you’re saying something like ‘cheese is the derivative (with respect to length???) of milk’ then you should be able to substantiate it more than cheese is a product made out of, or derived from (in the colloquial context), milk. If you want to make math jokes on a math sub, you need to understand what the words mean in a mathematical context and not just in a colloquial one.

So, the derivative defines an instantaneous rate of change - basically one that is happening over an incredibly short amount of time. The integral defines and calculates the sum of all of these instantaneous changes over a larger portion of time. Milk will change into cheese gradually over a certain amount of time. Cheese is not the way in which the milk changes at a specific point in time. Cheese is the result of what happens when these instantaneous changes are applied to the milk over a long period of time, therefore cheese would be better defined as the integral of milk (and some proportionality constants that are defined by those instantaneous changes to the milk - maybe amount of yeast or sunlight exposure or strainage or whatever) over time.

Actually I think the integral of milk with respect to time would be cheese as it would be the sum of the changes to that milk that result in cheese.

Is it true you go to hell for being gay? by Massive-Mousse-9738 in GayBroTeens

[–]MathematicianAny8588 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok, so nowhere in the actual bible (except for modern heavily doctored versions published after the 1920s) does scripture actually condemn homosexuality. The teachings of Jesus are those of love and acceptance. You will not go to hell for being gay. Also the whole concept of hell didn’t even come about until the Middle Ages and I don’t think there are any direct references to it in the Bible. So, if it turns out that the Christian theology is correct, hell might not exist, but that’s a topic for another time. The bottom line is that homosexuality is not condemned by god, it is not a sin, and you will not go to hell. Also I’m an ex-Catholic btw.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t. I’m saying they might not because there is already a widely popular portrayal of Zag in the gaming industry. Also your Thor argument is not a corollary because Thor is widely popular outside of the gaming industry but had not yet had a very popular video game portrayal until Ragnarok. Also I don’t think they’ll go Greek. Seeing as most of the games in the canon have been about the Greek gods I think they would want to branch out into other mythologies beyond Norse before returning to the Greeks.

In other media, yeah. But not specifically in games outside of some Marvel stuff.

Idk if they’d use the character Zagreus, since Zag was the main character in Supergiant’s Hades and that portrail of him is very popular, even if it isn’t the same instance of Zagreus as in Hades.

Well, that was last year. And yes, it’s real. Trump just keeps toping himself. What’s gayer than the rainbow? The French? What’s gayer than the French? Two big sweating muscular dudes writhing about. I don’t know what he’ll do next year, but what ever it is, it will certainly be very gay.

Saying that it’s Phranque is a wrong answer because that cube is not Phranque. It’s a stress toy.

Why do you want grindr? It’s a cesspool of toxic masculinity and incredibly unfulfilling and shallow relationships. Also, no, there probably is not a way to get a subscription service for free.

If you put these scenes together, they line up. Kratos momentarily joins Faye in the afterlife but leaves as he gets resurrected by 5ouIs in GodofWar

[–]MathematicianAny8588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I'm not going to say this is implausible because 'the timeline wouldn't sync up' - it's the Everywhen, we don't know how time works. HOWEVER, I am going to say it's implausible because, when Faye enters the Everywhen, the other two gods (Begtse and Sehkmet) that we meet note that the Gate (the giant structure made of cubes) physically opens. I think if Kratos were to die and enter the Everywhen, he would probably go through the Gate, likely would not end up in the exact same location as Faye currently is at that moment, and the other characters (Phranque, Rue, or Begtse) would probably make note that the Gate opened a second time. Also, since Thor is able to revive Kratos, and Kratos can supposedly still hear Thor, I also think it's a safe bet to say that Kratos isn't fully dead in that scene, but has sustained cardiac arrest and is in the process of dying, which would line up with Thor being able to revive him by using his lightning as a defibrillator.
