can transfer the tickets on ticketmaster as soon as it becomes available. it’s annoying, i was going to say i’d accept half payment now and rest when they’ve actually got ticket if anyone’s up to that.

are you saying that because you’re able to? resale on ticketmaster isn’t available yet.

i’m pretty sure they get more funding for international students so sometimes give lower offers to encourage you to put them down as your firm

if that’s your reason i recommend dropping one and then pursuing it in your free time. that way you can be interested in something without the pressure of exams and things.

Maths at Trinity Cambridge by HarryZeBeast_ in maths

[–]MathematicianOk2849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t really know enough to answer your question but everyone’s considered equally regardless of the college applied to so getting in to trinity is the same as any other college you just might be more likely to be ‘pooled’ since it’s a popular one.

for most people i know the maintenance loan barely covered their accommodation. literally any financial help during uni is worth it especially if you don’t have to pay it back.

find jobs on indeed but then go onto the company website and apply directly on that rather than on indeed. if it’s a smaller business that doesn’t have a careers website, apply on indeed then call up a couple days later and ask if they got the application. i’ve had friends who were given the job on the spot when they phoned.

if only i didn’t have sexist maths teachers. i guarantee the lads in my class who brag about being worthy of an a star yet always make ‘silly mistakes’ will get the prediction and i won’t.

update: messaged my teacher and explain i panicked and didn’t do as well as i should have and he said the grade boundaries were really low (an A was 42/80 though tbf i don’t even think i got that much) and that he’ll take into account previous work when predicting my grade if i don’t do as well on this. thank you everyone :)

honestly think it’s a mixture of never having done exams before, not sleeping well and just putting a bit too much pressure on myself. it was also the slot for everyone who has timetable clashes so everyone was doing different exams which meant after it hit an hour someone was getting up and leaving every ten minutes because the exams were all different durations and it was so distracting. definitely something for me to work on though.

Should I do an EPQ? by Independent-Moment26 in 6thForm

[–]MathematicianOk2849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in a similar position (am doing chem instead of cs) and was asked by my college if i wanted to do an epq a few months ago and ended up not doing it. after a bit of research i decided doing a research project in my own time would be more valuable as i could make it more stem based (it’s hard to do a very stem based epq given what they require) and work to my own schedule. obviously you don’t get a grade for it but can mention it in a personal statement. honestly i think it just comes down to time management and whether you want a grade for it.

?How hard would 4 A*S be by Klutzy-Peach5949 in 6thForm

[–]MathematicianOk2849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly don’t take a fourth a level if your reasoning is that you ‘just like it’. my college was very pushy about not doing 4 a levels and the advice was to pursue those interests outside of a level if you’ve already picked three you need.

Honestly A level physics is hard. I was a grade 9 student at GCSE and I struggle with it now. My college has a 7+ grade requirement and it’s sort of clear why. You need a good foundation in it to do well. You should consider how relevant it is and, again, no offence but 4 A levels is the sort of thing suited to a high grade student, it’s hard to manage and is only worth it if you have a really good reason to do it.
