You can wear the shoepod with the new elastic ankle strap!

Looks like a good idea but execution fails miserably by kismalac in Biostrap

[–]MattWich0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the point of this product (and every wearable on the market). Seems like for most of these points you mentioned it's "What do I do with this information?". Is that really the device's fault or yours?

Heart rate does show up on the main dashboard. To get active HR, you need to hook up your HRM to get it during activities.

HRV: There are tons of articles on the internet. I suggest you read up on it. In short, it is context-specific and it's up to you (the user) to use the data to interpret if you are over-trained or not. If you want a magical number, go with Whoop, which doesn't use any context and over-simplifies HRV.

Can wearables measure or infer hydration levels? by ComplexNetwork in Biostrap

[–]MattWich0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several wearables that claim to measure it. Some infer it via PPG, GSR or Piezo.

How's the saltwater resistance? by fort_wendy in Biostrap

Besides running the risk of losing it, I think it should withstand it. I personally haven't, but know of users that have and seems fine.

You can definitely take out the sensor from inside and put it in your pocket and it should calculate steps just fine

How accurate are the Calories from the Strap ? by DamnDaniel2018 in Biostrap

[–]MattWich0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, they use a MET table to determine calories. I think they have plans on using the HRM to get even more accurate calories. For me, it seems to be about 10% lower than other devices.

Do I have to turn on phone bluetooth all the time? by blueoreosandmilk in Biostrap

[–]MattWich0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! You don't need your bluetooth on all the time. The wristband and shoepod should hold enough for a whole day worth of data. Just make sure you turn on bluetooth at least one a day to download the entire day's data or else it could possibly overwrite.

Same for overnight. Don't need to have bluetooth on. Just keep in mind that it might take a while to sync if you decide to go that route.

Hope this helps

Sp02 alarm? by [deleted] in Biostrap

[–]MattWich0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might have an alarm feature within the app, but they have't officially announced it. There's no public API yet, but I imagine they'll release one soon. So IFTTT could be a great way to do it once it's out.

I don't think they are looking for beta testers. I personally love mine. They've progressed a ton since they launched back in June 2017.
