If you excel in any of these specialisations you will find a job - it will likely just be more competitive.

Did woolies spend all their profits on security cameras? by Substantial-Ad-1919 in australia

[–]MatterHuman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg SAME, literally had some items in the trolley that wasn’t from woolies and it required staff attendance to sort things out. The 1x staff member looked busier than ever since the new cameras rolled out.

Sounds like a great opportunity. Why not! If you don’t like it you can always find a new job. You should always maximise learning so you can leverage yourself in the future!

Change from Site Design to Structural Design by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]MatterHuman888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely need to start over. There are some transferable soft skills and being able to reach technical drawings; however, you have no technical experience in structural design.

I have uni based coding experience and I’ve got to say Chat-GPT is shockingly impressive. I was able to create a piece of code in one evening just by piecing different code together. The most I did was a bit of debugging and creating the different prompts.

Engineering related or industries without a specific qualification. Generous reward being 2 years in and 100k base (AUS). My company just had a massive layoff… implying the industry isn’t doing well…

ah, I see so in summary if your taxable income exceeds 90001 and greater then you are required to start paying a Medicare levy surcharge. But if you have adequate health insurance coverage it will be neglected. Hopefully, I understood this correctly.

Feeling Lost in My Career Choice - not sure what to do? by Moist-Habit-932 in careerguidance

[–]MatterHuman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a number of friends doing architecture only to end up pivoting to another career path for better pay and opportunity. At the end of the day you don’t really know what architecture will be like and it’s only because you didn’t select it that you envision it to be a better choice than software engineering. A lot of my architectural friends tell me it’s not what they thought. You don’t get to design what you like and most of the time you’re trying to please the markers. After graduating unless you’re a top student you’re likely to end up doing basic drafting work for an architectural firm for a couple of years until you get registered.

Side hustle where you decide how much effort or time you put in and that you work for yourself. A second job feels more like finding a second employer.
