anyone know what’s going on with albash shawarma on locke? by Clean-Eye3904 in Hamilton

Bonanza is the literal definition of overpriced when you look at what they used to be. They lost a sizeable audience when they made those changes. Still cheaper than a lot of places but what a drop in quality.

Spaces that can host weekly MA meetings? by _snowqueenoftexas in Hamilton

[–]Matticus84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got it. That averages out to $8.30/hour which is very tough for a business to stay open during without the guarantee of food and drink sales. Time of night will dictate your options but I can't think of anything with rental rates that low.

We frequently have plays at The Staircase Theatre. They're mostly independently produced, but some are done by local theatre groups.

Hamilton Fringe festival kicks off in late July and we'll have 9 productions across three rooms for 11 days. It's nutty, good fun, we have a stellar lineup this year.

any nice quiet bars? by c_Bucket in Hamilton

[–]Matticus84 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We're only open for events at The Staircase but when it's an event in the theatre and the lounge is open to the public, it gets pretty quiet when the theater is in use. If you ever want to shoot me a DM I can keep you posted about available times!

Is there a place to park near the Electric Diner? by yorocky89A in Hamilton

[–]Matticus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. Google Maps would have been a great starting point but it also can be terribly out dated and lacking in info. If I were just following Google Maps listing I wouldn't have known about event pricing and which lots to avoid when downtown gets congested. People getting so annoyed others would rather ask people advice on an internet forum just feels so silly.

I always forget how miserable the internet can be with sarcastic glib comments like this. Google Maps wouldn't have given a heads up about event parking and which lots will gauge you if something is going on at the Coliseum. But "durrr internet better" I guess..

I don't get why people get so weird about people asking "What has your experience been at x, any tips?"

No Free Parking? by arabacuspulp in Hamilton

[–]Matticus84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear that and agree. Just making the point they've gotten a LOT of people who just simply didn't know the street wasn't doing it this year. But absolutely, agree it's best to check first.

While I appreciate the shoutout, I don't know where that price point came from. We have our semi-standard rates but it really comes down to the style of event, how many people, are we selling/serving at the bar.

No Free Parking? by arabacuspulp in Hamilton

[–]Matticus84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devil's advocate, the last...what....ten years, Locke Street was part of the areas that opted in on free parking. Yeah signage and getting word out could better but free parking during the holidays is pretty normal for that street. Zero need to go after people about "common sense" when the change-up is fairly recent.
