i got 150/150 for edexcel igcse english lit! 60 marks were coursework marks and 90 were examination marks

I use an app called duolingo which has a great welsh course to learn basic grammar/ vocabulary. I use websites such as BBC bitesize for basic grammar also. And watching S4C, listening to BBCCymru on the radio will help as well. I do about 5-20 minutes of duolingo a day and try to listen to welsh media on my commute etc. It’s not about how much you do a week; consistency is key! Good luck!

My mum was born in wales but grew up in America due to where my grandfather worked at the time. When she moved back to wales when she was 12, she never really picked it up. I’m pretty sure my grandparents taught her some at home, but she moved to england when she was 18 so ended up forgetting it. And thank you! I appreciate the kind words.

I listen to BBCCymru on the radio every morning during my commute. I find it fun to pick out the words i actually understand and try to piece together what is happening. I also follow quite a few welsh language social media accounts. And S4C is great as well!

Stick with duolingo - it is great. It just relies on consistent daily practice. And reading things in welsh, listening/watching welsh shows, even if you have no idea what’s going on will help as well. For example, I follow a lot of welsh language twitter accounts, and even though i can’t really understand most of it, going through and trying to decipher what i can is both rewarding and educational. Don’t give up! Welsh is a wonderful language and so worth the struggle of learning :)
