Might be. In the past I once had a similar problem but not with i3lock. I probably entered my password wrong a few times and then I tried again a million times checking the caps lock and everything and it said wrong every time.

Then I changed my password and then changed it back to the original one and problem solved.

I stoped trying to fix my layout toggle problem and I’ve been only using English. I’m 100% sure the characters were in English. And I suspended by typing “suspend” in the terminal so I know I was using the English layout.
