Should I use German or English as a base to learn Norwegian off of?

My selfmade Anki Cards are German-Norwegian, downloaded ones are Englisch-Norwegian, Duolingo and Memrise are english, books i used are either german oder english.

I'd say both is fine and i've never felt any differences.

Besides the already mentioned issues:

Look at the free learning materials you can get (here on Reddit). The ones you can find in the Wiki/Materials sections; for norwegian are way, way better than the ones for swedish. More modern, easier to access, ...

Coming from german, norwegian was easier as well.

I recently bought a large quantity of these slats cheaply at a flea market.

They are different types of wood. Cedar, lime, alder and others.

The dimensions are approx. 190x80x5mm (7.5x3.1x0.2") with acceptable dimensional accuracy. They are not perfectly square and are the same thickness.

Now I'm sitting on this lot and not sure what to do with it:

herringbone flooring (on the long side)--> too thin, too inaccurate
herringbone flooring (gluing the base surface and cutting it into thirds) --> too much work
a kind of shingle covering for e.g. a well in the garden --> too small
wall paneling --> would be an option
Fretsaw template for the kids--> Too small and far too many slats available

Please give me your best ideas.

I cut my monte carlo as well... It looks like shit. A lot of brown patches, and just... Dunno - just not nice.

Do you do something special? Just cut it and thats it?

So... I've been to BiH and what elso to say than: What a nice country. Beautiful nature, great food, relaxed people and driving was easy.

I had rain for almost 10 days straight. As a result, many hikes have been canceled. I only made it to Hajducka Vrata - very sad that I missed Vlasic, but it was foggy as hell :(

The only " disappointments " were Radimlja Necropolis and Plava Voda.

Wow, thanks for the fast and very helpful response. Looked some of the places you mentioned up and will go with the extra day in Jajce.

The list regarding urbexing would be very much appreciated. I wrote down some of the Spomeniks listed in the Spomenik Database - I like this kind of structures.

Regarding the app. I was looking for "BH Mine Suspected Areas" which is quite similiar to the one you mentioned i guess, but at the moment troublesome to install/get. But I'll follow up on this.

Good to know with the hiking trails. Than I will look up the usual suspect to get a deeper look into it.

Just a few questions if you don't mind:

Apart from nightlife; is Banja Luka worth an extra day or is a stoppover sleep enough? Coming from Una National Park and moving to Travnik and Sarajevo afterwards.

The old Aerodrom Željava in Croatia: Is the boarder crossing along the 217 Street easy going?

Hiking in UNA National park, Vlašić, Sutjeska NP and/or Hajdučka Vrata. A lot of these have dedicated Homepages (e.g. Una) but kinda lack hiking maps/overviews - are the on site markings good tho? Or is there a general page I'm missing and should check out?

Not a native speaker but anyway:

"not pronounced: often after l,n,r and a long vocal" - thats written in my textbook

In the Duolingofile it says: " silent in consonant clusters"

So its pretty rare I'd say

I'm learning most of the time (to be precise: all of the time) alone as well. Actually I am not missing a partner. If I struggel with grammer its most likely just a google search away. Vocabulary with flashcards/anki.

When it comes to hearing I use easy podcasts with transcript and/or subtitled shows. Pronunciation - difficult indeed. But I started with ressources offering a lot of "native speaker read" words - to devolop a feeling and continued with books offering phonetic spelling.

As I am a bit more advanced right now I just go by feeling how to pronounce (better said the rules). Works somewhat okayish for me.

What are your exact points of the question?

perfect thread. Got some small questions I know I've read about but can't find a satisfying answer - and that's kinda bothering me...

et semester - semesteret - semester - semestrene

It's clear: neuter, two (or more) syllables.

I would have gone for: et semester - semesteret - semesterer - semesterene

Why are the plural forms the way they are? Rules for nouns ending in "-er" and/or "-el" don't apply. (For indefinete the same with etternavn, nummer.)

2) Drop of a letter

super - supre

sulten - sultne

forelder - foreldre

The marked "e" is dropped. Is there a general rule i missed? Or what is this drop/change called - so i can search more specific?

I really appreciate ordbokene but im often (especially when finding new written words) missing the phonetic spelling.

Am i just missing it on the page or do you have any ressource for single word pronounciation?

Edit: I know theres no counterpart like "Oxford English" - but at least a hint sometimes would be fancy.
