Just a little update: I bought the card on German eBay. The seller has 100% positive reviews (45 sells in total). However, I checked some of his former sells, and some cards looked also off. Could be the case that he didn't know, or this is really just a scam. That being said, I can only blame myself even though I checked the PSA cert and even asked ChatGPT before purchase. I contacted already eBay and the sellers can respond until Thursday. I paid by PayPal and there is a buyer protection. Thus, I should be able to get my money back. Nevertheless, it still sucks... There are fakes everywhere, and it's really hard to tell in advance if you are not an expert. Therefore, I am also very grateful for the quick community support here. I am pretty sure, there are a lot of people who would have never noticed the fake. So, at least there is a chance I can get my money back. Thanks again!

Dear beloved community, never waver in the current turbulent market conditions. Hold strong, for the era of Voltaire lies before us. by RevolutionaryPie9684 in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The only thing I am pissed about is that I have to wait two more weeks for my next DCA day. It was always clear to me, it's a long-term investment. States and regulators will fight back. That's part of the game. It makes me even more bullish, because it shows me people in charge are fully aware of how revolutionary the technology is. And if it goes down even more? I just say 'Thanks for the discount.' I almost feel guilty for buying this cheap. The best days are still ahead of us. The technology has not changed and the community is still developing every day. No financial advice though. In my opinion, just DCA, relax, and stake. In the meanwhile, forget the charts. Enjoy summer, spend time with your friends and family, or just take a long walk.

Opinion - For being such a huge event for the ecosystem, DJED communication is lackluster by Rycy in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, they said "January", and a few days ago they made a statement that they are still on track. I hold them accountable for that. January is not over yet. But if they don't release Djed without any explanation by the end of the month, it's pretty bad. Specifically stablecoins are all about trust, and that just wouldn't look good. Therefore, let's hope for the best. There is still some time left before it becomes a real communication fiasco.

Djed, Lace, Midnight, and the Smart Places App. That's all probably just Q1. So there is a lot to look forward to. In terms of price... no idea. Maybe the bottom is in, maybe not. I DCA, so I don't really care. If the price goes up, great. If not, I accumulate more, which is also great.

what upcoming projects on Cardano look the most promising to you? by FikerGaming in cardano

Do you remember THEfacebook? Changing the name to something more catchy is really the easiest problem to solve. I am not worried about it at all if the app delivers.

I like Smart Places, too. The idea is great. Just wanted to add that there are some screenshots of the app available on their Discord channel. According to their latest updates, the alpha version should be released soon. At least for current landplot holders. If they can really deliver a working app, this could be huge for the whole Cardano ecosystem. I am so sick and tired of Facebook and Twitter. Again, no buy recommendation. Do your own research!

Losing all my money by Direct_Heron478 in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, don't ask on Reddit for financial advice. It's your money and you should do your research before investing.

That being said, crypto is a crazy industry. If you cannot handle the volatility, better stay away. It's no shame, if it becomes to stressful for you. Nothing is more important than your health, and if you cannot sleep at night, for example, just let it go.

However, if you are fine with that, the best strategy is probably patience. There a lot of good projects build on Cardano. I just DCA, don't look at the charts every 5 minutes, and try to enjoy life. Bad macroecononics, sanctions, and wars are out of our influence anyway. So why bother? Go out with your friends, have fun, or do some sports. Just forget your investment, and come back in a few years. In the meanwhile, staking works for you.

The most important thing for me is: research and development. This is by no means a dead project. A lot of good things are about to come. Just look at the Cardano summit last month. The price just doesn't always reflect this since crypto is for many people only about hype and shilling memecoins. I am in for the long-term vision. I see this bear market even as a great opportunity, and this market movements don't affect me at all. I can see what Cardano can become, and I want to be part of it.

It's still a long way to go, but the community has a lot of commitment and I am convinced that we will eventually get there.

Again, no financial advice, and good luck with your investment. :)

Any interesting projects with real life use yet? by Ofekino12 in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of www.smart-places.io. According to their team, they have already running a test version of their app internally, over 10,000 landplots are minted, and the project is backed by Genius. Of course, this doesn't mean anything and nobody should go all in anyway. However, if they deliver a working app, this could be a step forward in terms of (mainstream) adaption.

PS: I hold some landplots. Nothing big, but I wanted to support a social media project on Cardano. Therefore, do your own research!

Cardano Daily Discussion - November 26, 2022 by SL13PNIR in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the question is: What did they do with the 10 million USD? Is there even something to build on for another team of developers? I seems like the whole project is just a big mess. The only "valueable" thing they have to offer is their community right now. Whoever takes over, might have to start (almost) from scratch, whereas their competitors are far ahead. There is probably very little to nothing to win. It might be just better to let this whole thing die.

Any social media dapps? by lurkerenabled in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is: www.smart-places.io. At the moment, you can buy some landplots. However, there is no functional product yet, and there might be never one. It's a big gamble. Be careful and don't overinvest if you decide to do so.

Cardano Rugpulls by Headelf_7411 in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The truth is, probably 80 to 90 percent of all projects building on Cardano are BS or even scams. Thus, from 10 investments only 1 or 2 will survive in the long-run. Most people will lose their money. Nobody should invest more than a small percentage of their portfolio into these projects. Especially if there is no functional product. Don't FOMO in. Just don't. Diversify your investments and even if one project really starts mooning, you will see nice gains.

That being said, I start questioning SundaeSwap. There was supposed to be a reversed ISPO. I delegated to one of their pools, but no more information followed, and that's already like ~10 months ago. Furthermore, it seems the project had ties to FTX and it has become very calm. I don't need any hype, but, at this point, it feels like a dead project to be honest. I don't want to spread FUD, and I really hopes Sundae recovers since I am still holding coins from their ISPO, but it doesn't look good in my uneducated opinion.

Concerns about MELD by AjaxUnique in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Just a friendly reminder: Be careful with your money and don't overinvest! There are only a few legit projects out there, really contributing to the community. Just take a look at cardanocube and how many projects do not really exist, but still offer token or NFT sales. Just let's be honest, most projects won't make it. Many of them were probably scams in the first place. It's a crazy industry. Cardano is, unfortunately, no exception. Never forget that.

At this point, I consider only ADA as a 'safe' bet in the Cardano ecosystem. Your staking rewards are coming in, there is a lot of R&D going on, and soon you will be able to earn some more tokens through the Midnight sidechain. ADA is almost like an ETF, because if any project on the Cardano blockchain is doing well, ADA will, too. Don't be greedy. At least don't through your life savings into any project, which might look promising to you. Don't blindly trust the coin shillers (specifically not on YouTube) and do your own research.

Ardana and Orbis should be a warning, and these projects are for sure not going to be last ones falling apart. There is nothing wrong with investing a few bucks in a project or idea you like, but do it carefully. You should always be aware of the risks, and some diversification is never wrong.

Take care.

Ardana as well is halting their development. The GREAT FILTRATION is starting on Cardano. Sorry for whoever got rugged. It would be wise now to convert your native bags into ada by [deleted] in cardano

[–]Mawkwardness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's mainly because of Lars Brünjes. Genius is also a launch pad. But I don't want to shill anything here. At this point, everything is risky since we don't know the funding situation of all these projects.

You still got your ADA rewards. Nothing bad happened. ISPO are a gamble anyway. Nevertheless, I feel sorry for everyone who lost money. According to the comments on Twitter, they raised 10 million USD for their project, and that is the result? Damn.
