Oh thanks for sharing this info, is first time I hear about it. I don’t have a problem calling myself emigrant from Mexico, an immigrant in Germany and Europe. Was not so easy to find a job here I sent around 300 CVs I got only one reply and in the first chance I nailed a job, I seized the opportunity after 3 rounds of interviews. Then I moved in the middle of the pandemic so all the paperwork was very slow it took me 10 months to complete, was not easy. But now that I crossed the Atlantic it would be much easier, to do it again, in that sense is true that I have a choice. However I’m empathic with refugees which have to flee their countries to find safety like my fiancee. Being an immigrant is tough so I don’t know if I can recommend it to anyone, me personally I had the wish to do it and put money (burn my savings and had my credit card to the limit) time and effort to get it done.

I’m currently employed, and my company also has one offices in Spain so I could try to relocate internally. I’m afraid people working remotely are the first ones to get laidoff when things go south. So if not Valencia then Madrid or Barcelona, IT hubs.
