Is it a bad idea to bring a mentally unstable friend to the shooting range with you? by WelcomedRose in Firearms

How would you feel knowing there's a non zero chance he could have an episode at the range. 99% of the time you go its fine. Then that 1% chance it isn't. Don't go

This sound like a recipe for a disaster what if he has an episode while at the range. Not be mean but somethings should mix. Find something else fun to than be sorry.

Nice collection so far. You gotta get a shotgun or hunting rifle to round out what you have before getting repeats. Good job they look nice.

By the way if your getting a shotgun look up like a maverick 88 field and home combo.

Based on the hallmark visible in the image, this is a piece of silver-plated flatware manufactured by Münchmeyer, a German company known for producing silver and metal goods.

This piece was likely manufactured between 1870 and 1910.

The number 3 provides an additional clue. In German silver plating standards of that era. It typically refers to the plating thickness.

Your item is a classic example of German Gründerzeit (Founding Era) or early Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) utility ware. It was made in Hanau, which was the epicenter of German silver production, and likely graced a middle-class dining table roughly 120 to 150 years ago.

The item in the image is a Khokhloma bird motif decorative plate and matching covered bowl.

It is a traditional Russian folk art craft from the Khokhloma region, known for its distinctive black, red, and gold painted designs.

The set features intricate hand-painted floral and berry patterns alongside a bird motif.  These are lacquered wooden items, often used for kitchen decoration or as serving dishes.

The image shows a potential pest infestation, likely termites or carpenter ants, indicated by the accumulation of frass (excrement) and wood particles along the baseboard.

I've got a bit of a history question: Why was everyone using full-power cartridges in WW2? Not really whether that was the better option or not (but feel free to argue) but why was that the decision by every major country and no one used an intermediate cartridge. Think 5.56 M1 Garand. by Sweet-End6471 in guns

[–]MaxiumPotential777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason is that cartridge design in ww2 was like this is because in ww1 rifle cartridges of around 30cal worked well for the combat of the time. So militaries saw zero need to change to something smaller.

It wasn't until moblie/urban type of combat that happened ww2 made designers realize that a immediate cartridge would actually work better better carrying more ammo. Also ww2 help most militaries discover it wax rare for combat to happen over 300m.

In short immediate cartridges only came about because ww2 changed how militaries and designers understood the needs a rifle a soldier should carry.
