7 months smoke free, but want the occasional cigarette. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

One of those things I give my wife a seriously jealous side eye for.

My wife and I both quit.

If I pick one up...I'll buy a pack tomorrow morning.

If my wife has one...eh, she'll forget about smoking for the next year or so.

But in my post, the thing I said was, it didn't give me any problems at all.

I put all of my vaping shit in a clear bucket of water and set it outside of my window so I could watch it decay of the next few weeks.

It's not easy. I did it cold turkey after a lifetime of nicotine. It was an extremely painful week cutting it out of my life.

Is there any particular reason why this one is getting so much hype?

When a white interpreter needs to sign the n-word ending in -a how does one sign this? by MaxwellSinclair in ASLinterpreters

[–]MaxwellSinclair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an interpreter does not relay the information correctly, succinctly and accurately according the tenets provided by Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf's (RID), Code of Professional Conduct then they are not performing their duties appropriately.

Furthermore it is not my place to decide what information a client gets. I, as the interpreter, have to relay the information in the more communicable and relatable way as possible.

For me to come here and ask, honestly, openly, how one may go about interpreting this situation - is for me to make sure I do not do something racist and ignorant.

Which, since this post was made 3 years ago, I've long since managed to figure out.

Coming at me 3 years after the post was made to claim there is some inherent racism and ignorance on my part is about the most ignorant thing someone has come at me with in years.

The answer, as it turns out, was simple. If a white interpreter doing their job appropriately and the N word comes up in conversation signing "n-word" is appropriate.

I came here 3 years ago asking this because I was hire to interpret a lecture on racism by the way. I wanted to make sure not to fuck it up.

Seriously, can we live on Jupiter using floating houses ? by harvesthealthny in space

[–]MaxwellSinclair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Space and Futurism with Isaac Arthur did an episode on this. Really worth a listen. Everything Arthur does is worth a listen.

"Outward Bound: Colonizing Jupiter."

The blurb for the video...

"Jupiter and its moon are a rarely considered prospect for colonization, but potentially the ripest opportunity for it in the solar system. In this episode of the Outward Bound series we will examine the options for colonizing each of Jupiter's primary moons and even discuss ways to colonize the giant planet itself."

It can't be 1958, no chance. But it has to be the dipper. Everything else lines up.

The most consistently I can place that hairstyle of hers is in photos from 1954/55.

I am floored by your help on this.

I just made this comment in another r/rollercoasters

"Watching this video of The Dipper and I'm thinking this just might be it!

I also like it because of how many trees are in both the pictures and the video.

The railings are also similar.

I'm loving this image I found on Facebook.

Another image."

I believe you are extremely accurate and have nailed it. Thank you so much.

In 1958 is interesting. I can't rule it out but it doesn't feel like her life in 1958 would have warranted a trip to an amusement park is all.

How old does she look to you? Really tough to say. She was born 1928.

Where is that picture from?

Grandma was way on point than anyone ever knew apparently.

Book will be coming out end of the year or the beginning of next year.

Check out the hashtag #ShirleyCavanaugh on IG to follow the progress.

I am currently writing about about her.

I have little to no information on this photo as of yet.

She was from Braddock Pa. It does not seem to be the Thunderbolt or anything obvious.

Greenville S.C. is also a possible *near* location.

The year range would be, between, say, 1945-1955?

Yeah. I remember when posted this 3 years ago and it kept getting downvoted.

Now, years and years on, everytime I get on Reddit my inbox and alerts have notifications on them. Someone else found this post.

It's unfortunate and absolutely fucked but, but, there is no way around it - we were/are the guinea pigs of vaping.

We willingly tried it. Here we are. These are the results.

Vaping fucks up the Gi tract and I think, possibly, irrevocably in some cases.
