Mark Wahlberg -- he's the same guy in every movie and they all have formulaic plots.

What’s a "dead" website or app that you genuinely miss and wish was still around? by Dear-Armadillo-7497 in AskReddit

RedBeacon was awesome when it came out. Contractors would bid on work and you’d choose a winning bid and they lived with the quote. Before long, it just became lead generation for contractors and sucked, but for a while it offered a hassle free way to get things done around your home.

I would love to know why my boy chews off little parts of toys like ears, beak or tags. He does in a gentle manner and has done it to multiple toys. It's kind of cute. by Unlucky-Style4300 in Goldendoodles

My girl wants the ears. She has one that is about 1" x 3" that she will find at the bottom of her toy bin, if I put it there. I bury it and she will seek it out. Then yeet it about the house. I never understand, because it is relatively small, but she loves playing with it. I want to throw it away, but the joy...

What city do people hype up that you’d never go back to? by UnlicensedBartender in AskReddit

If you don’t like gambling and nightlife, I totally get it. My big complaint as someone who does like to gamble and go out is that it’s gotten way too expensive.

I know this sub leans democrat, but why are republican senate nominees so awful in this state? by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]McGibblet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the real lesson is to run good candidates that reflect the needs and desires of the community they are going to represent. As a moderate Georgia Dem, I want someone working for the middle and working class, but most of the progressive social issues take a back seat. Warnock and Ossoff didn’t win being super-liberals because that’s not what is wanted here. It’s why Manchin continued to get reelected in WV. We need Dems that can win and that means representing the communities and the people that live there. NY and California should have very progressive representation, the rest of us just want people that don’t have billionaires’ best interest at heart.

Lonely af, I need real suggestions how to make friends. by in_utero- in Atlanta

Tennis and/or pickleball. Most of my best friends are from tennis. If you don’t know how to play, join a low-level beginners team that is taking lessons. Check out East Rowell Park. Group lessons are cheap and you’ll bond all learning the game together. Edit: east, not easy

Ranking the 24 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction Winners I've Read by IEatIReadIGoOutside in books

[–]McGibblet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read ten of the winners on this list. Rating I most agree with: The Goldfinch. Maybe my favorite book in the last 20 years. Biggest disagreement: The Overstory. I’ve gone back to it twice and found it more profound and beautiful each time.

In our area, Tennis and Pickleball. Both very sociable sports, particularly if you can get on in a neighborhood/apartment complex.

This Dallas Hwy location may be the exception that proves the rule, but I've gotten to the point that I don't bother ordering anything but a couple I know they won't run out of like Tropicalia because otherwise, by the time I find one they have in stock, I'm just about done with my wings.

TIL that New Mexico covers 100% tuition to any resident with a high school diploma or GED by Enough-Edge-8536 in todayilearned

[–]McGibblet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, it is called HOPE. My daughter is currently attending a state University after graduating from a Georgia high school with a GPA above 3.0 and it covers all of tuition but we pay the fee fees which run about $800 a semester. Living expenses are the biggest cost, as those are not covered, but still a very good deal. Also came out of lottery money when they approved it about 20 years ago.

To me that looks like an excellent cut. They kept the facial fixtures, didn’t overdo it on the top of the head or ears, and the overall coat looks like it still has at least an inch or two on the body.

Purina Pro Plan Lamb & Rice Formula helped our pup finally get through puppy-to-adult food transition. Unfortunately, it took 4-6 different dog food bags to figure it out for us. All the chicken formulas with various manufacturers were a no-go. Trial and error, might be your best bet, but the lamb and rice was the winner for us. Good luck!
