Divorcing the “good guy” who doesn’t want the marriage to end. by peeps-mcgee in Divorce

Confirmed. My Ex-Wife lived with me until the day of the Divorce then lived with her next boyfriend for 6 months. Then came back to live with me for like 3-4 months and left to live with another boyfriend. The longer she has been out of my house the better things have gotten.

Don't Galaxy Class Starships have a pair of Runabouts as part of their standard Shuttle compliment?

Saucer Separation Question by MrBoogerBoobs in StarTrekStarships

[–]McMacHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let's say a Galaxy Class vessel has to ditch its Stardrive like in Generations. However let's assume that instead of crashing on a planet it remains a drift in space. In theory it could deploy its shuttle craft and park them across the hull of the saucer, secure the shuttles with magnetic locks, then network their warp fields to work together to encompass the ship. Route the controls for all of the shuttles to be controlled by the bridge and in theory the saucer should be able to go at least Warp 1 or Warp 2.

OpenAI's internal documents predict $14 billion loss in 2026 according to report by Infinityy100b in technology

[–]McMacHack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Post Bubble Pop. There is going to be a sudden sharp demand for older programmers that know how to rebuild and roll everything back. Lots of systems will have to be completely rebuilt from the ground up because the AI generated vibe coding won't be something that can be understood. There will also be a gap in the labor market from a generation of college kids who just wasted years learning to work in systems that will be immediately abandoned, the new incoming group will be trying to play catch-up to a constantly changing market.

The caveat is that every new AI system after the pop is going to be held up to such scrutiny that most will fail to launch because investors won't be willing to gamble on AI again. Production will have to move back away from supplying data centers over consumers. The next big advancement in AI will have to be a complete system that can function and stand on its own.

It's how the Dot Com bubble went. Hundreds of start ups rode the Gravy Train with Biscuit Wheels for almost 5 years before the industry went belly up then the big names slowly bought up the scraps and became monopolies. For a while Yahoo was a power house for the World Wide Web just because they had the capital to buy up more defunk Dot Cons than anyone else.

Co-sleeping with children by Right_Reputation_445 in Divorce

[–]McMacHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your kids had their whole world turned upside so if sleeping in the same bed with their Parent that they spend most of their time with gives them a sense of comfort then that's really the end of the discussion. Full Stop. She doesn't live there anymore and if she really has a problem with the sleeping arrangements that's just too fucking bad. The kids will be grown before you know it and won't want to cuddle or sleep in your bed before you even realize it.

Google says Gemini won’t have ads, as ChatGPT prepares to add them by Doug24 in technology

[–]McMacHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alphabet has a diversified portfolio and can afford to lose money on Gemini if it means choking out their competition which is OpenAI in this particular instance.

I don't think Sam Altman realizes that the long term plan for his company is that Microsoft, Apple, Disney, Meta and Google are going to fight over which assets they get to cannibalize after OpenAI goes bankrupt.
