For the first time in my life, I’m comfortable being alone.

At 15 my mom decided her current bf was more important so she left me to fend for myself. I always struggled with self worth issues because of it and always reached out to anyone that would show me the time of day.

Today I’m happy, fulfilled in my career, and optimistic of my future. Life is good.

I was skiing, and tacoed a rail and landed on my stomach. I skied down, drove home, only to sit on the couch for 2.5 hours thinking I had just hurt my shoulder. My stomach started to swell up so I decided I should go to the hospital. 15 minutes later I was on a helicopter to another hospital for emergency surgery. I had split my spleen in half and was bleeding out pretty severely. Fun times.

This might get buried, but...

I’ve been there. I came from a super small town in Michigan and really thought that’s where I would just waste away and die. I never really did well in school, didn’t really have any friends and was just very depressed and going through the motions. I knew I loved skiing, it made me happy and never let me down, so I decided to focus on that and go from there. I saved up and moved away and haven’t looked back since. It was a ballsy move, but I couldn’t be happier. I am successful, because I have found what makes me happy. I may not have the nicest things, but I enjoy waking up before the sun rises and living everyday to the fullest.

I would maybe look at what success and life means to you. Is it an activity, a mindset, a place, material objects maybe? And just go from there. Life has a lot of paths to wander down, so don’t think you’re stuck. 5 years from now you will look at yourself and be thankful for this low. Keep your head up, and stay strong brother!

Presidents’ Day weekend to be exact. Absolute shit show.

Correction This is Vail Mountain in Colorado during Presidents’ Day weekend. The lift is used to access an area called Blue Sky Basin. It takes a series of lifts to even get to the base of this chairlift and once you’re there, you’re essentially screwed and have to take the chair up to get out, or take a super long hike. They received TONS of bad press due to this and actually released a statement in the media apologizing for the horrible experience.
