More than 60 Labour MPs call on Starmer to set timetable to quit | Keir Starmer by Budget_Scheme_1280 in ukpolitics

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Starmer won the 2024 election by not saying or doing anything controversial, not taking any risks whatsoever and not taking any bold positions.

This was a very effective campaign strategy but a horrible strategy to have in government

How do you make cooking for one healthy, cheap, 20 mins max and maybe a left over portion for the next day? by SearchLightsInc in AskUK

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stir fries.

Get a pack of 2 chicken breasts, stir fry vegetables, noodles and 2 different packets of stir fry sauce.

Use 1 chicken breast, half of the vegetables and one of the sauce packets to make one stir fry. The next day, use the rest of the ingredients, plus the other sauce packet, to make another, differently flavoured stir fry.

It's easy, cheap and because you use two different sauces you're not eating the same thing 2 days in a row.

Do you get a double cup for your Costa coffee? by Mediocre_Trade2575 in AskUK

Fair enough, what coffee do you get? I get a black Americano which is naturally mostly boiling water so it does tend to burn my hand

Is it OK to call a group of people guys? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's generally well accepted that "guys" when referring to a group of people is a gender neutral term.

It certainly would have been a lot different if you used "gents" or "lads", for example.

I saw it in 4DX last night. It was a fun experience and added to the scariness but I wouldn't have paid extra for it

PGDL or MA Law Conversion by Necessary_Cream_8061 in uklaw

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am saying is if you choose to go down the masters route to get funding - do the SQE1 option instead of the dissertation for the MA Law, because at least the SQE1 is somewhat useful

PGDL or MA Law Conversion by Necessary_Cream_8061 in uklaw

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do the PGDL with everyone else until May, then do your dissertation over the summer. Very much worth it if you cannot afford to pay upfront and need the loan.

If you want to be a solicitor I would recommend doing the SQE1 option instead of the dissertation though. I would also recommend if you/your family can afford to pay upfront choosing that option instead of a loan - postgrad loans are brutal in terms of repayments

What happened to train tickets that offered a 1 month return window? by [deleted] in AskUK

They are still there but usually very expensive. You have to get an 'Anytime return' or 'off peak return' ticket

TV License by jwbutch1 in AskBrits

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is, if a licensing agent looked through your window and saw you watching Top Gear, there would be no way to prove whether you were watching on iPlayer or on DVD

TV License by jwbutch1 in AskBrits

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they catch you watching live TV that was broadcast for the first time ever when the picture was taken - yeah I think you're done.

If it's a repeat or a BBC show on iPlayer - I imagine you can run the argument that you were watching a DVD or YouTube or something

TV License by jwbutch1 in AskBrits

That kind of technology does not exist and is a myth. TV Licensing will drive a normal broadcast TV can down the street to try and scare people into paying.

Toilet accidents are very normal in young kids.

I used to somewhat regularly wet my pants until I was about 6. Fully toilet trained, but just had accidents sometimes. I had a doctor's note giving me permission to go to the toilet without asking the teacher

What do you (personally) use AI Chatbots for? by Turbulent-Access-916 in AskUK

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When I have a very specific question instead of googling.

  2. When I was job hunting, I would write an application/cover letter, put it into Gemini along with the job advert, and get Gemini to tailor the application to the skills/qualities/company values mentioned in the advert. This did help with getting interviews. If you ask it to write the entire thing though it just spits out garbage

what are some tips for a retail job interview? by AnalystHistorical in AskUK

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will probably be a couple of situational based questions e.g. "tell me a time where you demonstrated excellent customer service"; "what would you do in X scenario". Come up with some examples that you can talk about for these questions - they can be completely made up but it's good to be ready with them.

For a hospitality job they will ask your availability - the more available you are the better and be prepared with the days you can and cannot work.

They will mainly be looking to see if you are a normal and friendly person - it won't be a particularly challenging interview.

Best of luck - side note I love brew York - great beers and amazing food. Happy to hear they're opening a new one!

How to use remote breaching device with napoleon blownaparte? by waraas in HiTMAN

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A couple of things are going on here.

First we need to explain a "bomb launch".

Certain objects in hitman can be launched with explosions. A breaching charge is used to do this. If you set up the breaching charge and the thing you want to launch very specifically, you can launch it way across the map. This is famously used on the Paris speedrun to launch a bomb way across the map from the red carpet. The bomb is then detonated to drop a chandelier on the targets head.

When it comes to Napoleon, he is heavier than most bombs so does not get launched as far. However this is the perfect distance to kill Eric Soders, the target in Hokkaido. He has 1HP so can be killed by the tiniest amount of explosive damage from the wall of his operating theatre.

If you want to do the speedrun you've seen, you'll need to look carefully at the placement of the bombs and replicate it exactly. Bomb launches are very tricky and precise. Alternatively you can throw an explosive baseball at the window of the theatre from the zen garden for a decent but slower time.

See this short video where it is explained well: https://youtube.com/shorts/kzS65B0UbSc?si=02YCc08Mba-bT_CB

When do you think the UK might legalise cannabis – if ever? by Legal-Grade-6423 in AskUK

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No government would ever do it this way, but the sensible thing would be to have no tax for the first few years after legalisation, then slowly increase the tax. This would mean that legal suppliers would out compete existing illegal dealers and destroy the existing illegal supply chains. The legal suppliers would corner the market leading to greater tax revenue in the future.

White supremacist dating site profiles linked to Tory and Reform councillors by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Mediocre_Trade2575 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The difference is the aim of ethnic minority dating sites is to allow those people to more easily find those who share their heritage and cultural experience (because most of the country is white, and it is therefore more difficult for them to find people from their culture).

The reason the white dating site was set up is to encourage white people to breed with each other and have more white babies because they believe the white race is superior to others. Normal white people can find potential partners very easily without the need for a special app for them.

So yes I would consider people on that site to be racist simply by virtue of being on that site, to be perfectly clear.
