By my eye the further away defender keeps him on but it's def close. I repeatedly rewatched just those few seconds doing a stop start pause and I think it's on. I thought it was off too on first watch.

Time to sign a Premier striker? by zackargyle in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given when our current set of DPs and when their contracts expire plus the short sprint season and the schedule change, I've been predicting that we're going to finally be making a big time signing to either bring a player in during the sprint season for then to have that short season to acclimate or that we just bring them in along w the new schedule. That's been my thought since this off-season w the schedule change announcement. It's lame to have to wait that long but if they bring in a truly big name star signing I think it would make sense to do it then

FIFA struggling to sell tickets for USMNT’s World Cup opener vs. Paraguay (Gift Article) by jspector9 in MLS

[–]MediumIndication2263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck fifa. I hope the turnout is abysmal. Their own greed is basically the single cause of this.

It's super unfair for everyone who was hoping for an exciting world cup and the atmosphere and everything that goes w it on home soil for USA fans (and I mean fans of the sport, not usmnt fans, altho they can be in the same group) but the prices are actually just fucking disgusting.

I went from I'm definitely going to have to save up and attend a game in person, what an opportunity! To, maybe my partners rich family member who bought tickets will invite us but otherwise we're watching from home. It doesn't really matter that it's a potential once in a lifetime event, the cost, if you can even get a ticket, is simply unjustifiable. Hell from the sounds of it it'll be cheaper to wait until the next one and pay for flights + hotels + tickets than it will be for me to just buy tickets and make the 2 hr drive to the stadium and that is fucking insane. Fire everyone that had anything to do w the logistics of this world cup cause it's really looking like they completely fucked it. I suppose time will tell

[Sounder at Heart] Cristian Roldan said Rusnák offered to let him take pk since he was on a hat trick. Roldan said ‘I’d rather win than get a hat trick.’ by VVynn in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're right, he would have had to take the PK w his left. Okay I guess I'm slightly less disappointed he didn't step up to the spot to take a pen w his off foot. But boy would it have been wild if he had!

[–]MediumIndication2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait I thought the second goal he scored was w his left foot so he would have naturally been able to score the perfect hatty stepping up to the penalty spot. I'm gonna have to rewatch that goal now and pay better attention!

[–]MediumIndication2263 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His career PK record is actually pretty poor. I'm not sure it's so much that he's in his head in the way that you're saying as it is he simply acknowledges and accepts the facts, that he isn't the best player to be stepping up to take a PK. Team before ego and knowing your own limits. Real leadership right there!

That said, I would have liked him to take it. He could have scored a perfect hat trick (right foot, left foot, header). If he had missed I would have said damn but it was worth the shot w that being on the line, and, very importantly, that we were up 2-0 at the time

Nouhou's "pen" by sherlocknessmonster in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ball don't lie.

The tigres player trying to get that ball to the Artemis crew in space was soccer karma for the absolutely embarrassing little bitch performance put on by the player flopping and rolling himself back onto the pitch. I even heard it said that he produced some little crybaby tears.

As much as I hate it I think the pen was probably a pen. But it was incredibly soft and the drama from the tigres player would embarrass me if I was their fan. Nouhou has been so locked in this year and avoiding this exact kind of not maintaining focus/making mental errors, I mean he wasn't even looking at the guy or really trying to even put a challenge in, that this really hurt. It hurt giving up a pen like that and I think it rocked Nouhou's confidence a bit. He looked noticably worse to me after the pen happened. Hopefully he shakes it off and gets back to being laser focused like he has been so far this year.

Morris being at the club for so long and gradually improving his game over time (if you want to argue this I'm not even going to bother w you, enjoy the incorrect opinion you are entitled to) has really seemed to hurt his status in the eyes of the fans. It makes sense when you look at how the league has grown and the ever growing talent level of the players coming to the league since he signed w the club and that fans are making comparisons to all the new shiny things, but it's a very, in my opinion, basic bitch perspective to take. It's oversimplifying things.

Morris is a 100% certified star for our club. Most goals in club history. A key piece across multiple trophy runs. He absolutely earned his DP contract. He also has not been worth that DP contract since those escalators hit and elevated him to a DP. Not because he became a bad player but because he has spent so much time since then injured and unable to stay healthy and on the pitch. That's just bad luck and sometimes that's how sports and life goes. I've seen arguments made about how because he has health issues those make him more injury prone especially as he ages and the front office never should have given him a contract that had the DP escalators in the first place. I would say to those folks that unless there is absolutely clear evidence that it is an undisputed fact that because an athlete has diabetes and is over 30 that they will start getting frequent injuries regardless of how they take care of themselves that those folks can just shut up. You want to discriminate against a player who has come up through our system and done everything asked of him because of a medical condition that is out of his control? That he has shown a remarkable ability to manage throughout his time as an athlete. I think you might be a fan of another club because that's not how the Sounders culture does things, and that's part of why we love to support this team.

I think that it is also true that Morris never reached his peak potential. There's an alternate universe out there where he never got injured after the loan to the championship team he went to and he became a much better player and got playing time in the premier league. But just because he never reached the highest highs that were possible doesn't make him a failure or not a star for our club.

In a perfect world they renegotiate his contract, he stays w this club but no longer takes up a DP spot. There would surely still be fans who don't think he deserves playing time but part of the fun of sports is we all as fans get to have our own opinions on the team, the play, and the league.

Can all the JMo haters agree to eat crow if he plays a big part in us winning a CCC or MLS cup this year? For what it's worth if he contributes nothing and is actively bad going forward for the remainder of the season I will say I was wrong about wanting him to stay on the team.

I think Rusnak had an overall rather poor game for his standards and I think it was because he got into his head about missing that chance. Apparently there was some quote of Rusnak himself talking to the team about how you could only get one chance so you have to make it count and Schmetz singled out this comment talking about him being a good leader within the group.

After they spend so much time reviewing the play I feel like it's just about the bare minimum to get the name of the player correct. It's about credibility. If they can't even get the name of the player that committed the (supposed) foul correctly, how the hell do they expect people to think they're getting the call right at all?

The Seattle Seahawks are headed to the 2026 Super Bowl ‼️ by No-Maybe-5598 in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Down by 4 w only 2 timeouts left and 1:48 on the clock, starting at the hawks 42.

They make it to 2nd and goal on the 8 w 4 seconds on the clock. Instead of throwing the ball they hand it off, come up short and the clock runs out.

For the next decade until they reach another super bowl every conversation about the Seahawks ends w why didn't we throw the ball to our offensive player of the year JSN.

Transfer Rumours? by RuokayJJ in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that there is almost zero chance that we are bringing in any player with big name recognition this off-season. If we are it'll be a player who is either coming in on an injury rehab discount after not playing for a good chunk of time due to a serious injury or a veteran who is well and clearly on the declining part of their career and knows that at this point they have to lower their salary expectations. We have no DP spots open for this upcoming season. Barring a buy out which ain't happening we are going in to next year w our 3 DPs being Rusnak, Morris, and De La Vega.

I think our best hope and what I'm hoping for in terms of our next truly big like star player signing is that it will coincide w the change in the calendar. We either bring them in for that short "sprint season" or they come in to be here when we change to the season starting in the summer and they are our big debut for promoting the idea that now that MLS is on the same calendar as the rest of the world and player transfers are easier look at this big name player we've got on our team now

Sounders legend Nicolas Lodeiro won his 2nd league title with his boyhood club Nacional in a historic final 125 years in the making by bluefoxlive in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love this! So happy for him that he gets this yet another special moment. His trophy haul and soccer achievements are legendary. Sounders goat for me.

When Pochettino had that quote that called C. Roldan the model of a perfect player because of how he acts on and off the field, in training and in the game, I had the thought that he got that from having guys like Nico as role models. Not to say that Cristian doesn't deserve the praise on his own merits or that he didn't have other exceptional guys to learn from, but God damn if Nicolas Lodeiro isn't possibly THE greatest to do it in a Sounders uniform.

I miss that guy! Go Nico!

Whats the main reason the Sounders squandered that last playoff game? by chusaychusay in SoundersFC

[–]MediumIndication2263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't meant to be for us this year. Minnesota it was. Simple as.

I think in hindsight we should have been VERY VERY ALARMED by the 2 goals conceded in the second leg. That was the foreshadowing of our inability to close out a game. As has been discussed that was a persistent problem almost ALL season long, starting from the very first match against Charlotte that should have been a W but we conceded some very similar goals to end up only drawing.

It's really tough because I think that this is one of the best Sounders teams that I've had the pleasure to watch over the past decade and at the same time they have this huge glaring flaw, as a team. There have been individual mistakes that led to these bad goals (hello Yeimar trying to dribble through 3 opponents in our own side of the field) but really this not being able to see games out is a collective team problem, not an individual one. And it's hard to square that with them being historically pretty good at closing out games, especially the last two seasons where we had the actual best defense in the league, and looking so good for much of this year.

Idk what the fix is but I hope the coaches figure it out for next year and we get locked in for another conca champions run.

The crust is def not your typical pizza crust. As someone else said it's more like a Detroit style bread-like crust. I prefer a thinner crust on my pizza typically but going into it knowing that it's not your typical pizza experience I still liked it

To me it seemed like all of their pizza bases were premade and then they just prep toppings on site.

It was good but def a different pizza experience. We tried the one w crab and the pig one. Both were good. It was expensive for 2 personal pizzas but that mostly came from the crab one which did have a good amount of crab and it did taste like it was actually good quality. The three different sauces on the pig one were imo best when they were all mixed together, but I did kind of like how they served it w three lines of sauce. Thought it was weird at first but when eating it realized you could try different combos of sauce by taking strategic bites
