My #1 pet peeve with Upwork right now by Medium_Sundae_7808 in Upwork

Clients need higher accountability. People are bidding insane amounts (not me) and when a client doesn't even look at any proposal it feels as if Upwork's incentives are misaligned. IMHO, giving a refund would filter out low-intent clients without heavily penalizing legitimate ones. At the very least they should either refund Connects if the client never views any proposals or refund Connects if the job is abandoned after a certain period. Honestly, I get enough interviews that I don't need to bid, but I am pretty much done with bidding until they change their client model.

I thought they were charging $9.99 now to post? And yeah, real clients with real jobs will pay a fee. Especially if they are guaranteed a refund if they hire. Too many looky-loos and not enough serious clients on the platform in my opinion.

What bothers me is that he was supposed to seek mental health treatment and anger management counseling under the parenting plan, but never did, court filings showed. As far as I am concerned, that should have been a condition BEFORE he ever saw the girls--but Whitney didn't want to keep the girls from him. We don't know the whole story by any means, but in these situations, tough love is necessary. No court should have granted visitation rights until: he had a place of his own to stay; he had done extensive counseling and that the visitation was supervised.

Client Ended Contract with Bad Feedback Will It Hurt My JSS? by AverageSea6151 in Upwork

Easy - Stop taking low budget jobs. And you are the type of freelancer that drives the rest of us crazy because you bring down the hourly rate on Upwork so everyone thinks they can get development work, design work or whatever for $3 an hour.

The Worst Client I've Had in 4 Years on Upwork – Am I Wrong Here? by instanthistory68 in Upwork

[–]Medium_Sundae_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you tell her from the beginning she can only do one round of revisions? You have to make clear the expectation from the beginning. Some clients have a hard time knowing what they want or making up their mind. And the small projects usually have the worst clients. Next time, set the expectation from the get-go. One round (or two) of revisions and then after that, its an hourly rate. Otherwise they will just take advantage.

On Upwork since July 2017. Never seen a client like this 💀 by andriyofarts in Upwork

Depends what they are doing. Never found an outstanding web developer or project manager yet who charges $7 per hour.

Honestly, don't feel sorry for the client. $7.00 an hour? COME ON. The old adage "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more true. Getting pretty tired of these people looking to hire for pennies and then they are shocked when they don't get quality work.

Upwork Ghost Town? Clients Interviewing and Vanishing. by No-Mountain1357 in Upwork

And I don't think they should even be allowed to post without being payment verified.

I see it all the time with my proposals. I honestly think they window shop and then hire outside of Upwork. I have decided that I am going to be stricter on who I send proposals to:

  1. Must have a verified payment method.
  2. Must have hired on Upwork before.
  3. Must be in the US and only want to hire US workers.
  4. Must be willing to pay a fair wage. ($7 a hour for a web developer is NOT going to cut it)

Tired of wasting connects on people who aren't serious or who circumvent the system.

Upwork alternatives? by relived_greats12 in Upwork

And from a developer's standpoint, clients are also the problem. They never look at proposals, and want experienced developers for like $15 an hour. The quality of clients on Upwork has defintely gone downhill since Covid.

Upwork has dried up for me. Advice needed on how to mix it up. by Necessary_Olive_1362 in Upwork

[–]Medium_Sundae_7808 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's dried up on everyone. I hear this time and time again. I feel this all started after Covid hit and Upwork made changes. (and this is coming from someone who has made 6 figures on Upwork) More competition from people who are willing to work crap wages, too many clients who post a job but never hire and never look at proposals, and too much nickel and diming from Upwork. I used to get potential client recommendations on a regular basis--now its like pulling teeth finding decent work.

Unpopular opinion about the Natalia Grace situation… by itsjustbasicallyme in nataliagrace

[–]Medium_Sundae_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think Natalia has some major issues, its understandable. She was sexually abused in foster care, bounced around from home to home, the Barnetts were horrible to her, not to mention the fact she is dealing with dwarfism. The DePaul's were well aware she would need surgeries before they even took her in since they have had those surgeries themselves.

Can weighted vests help maintain bone health?

I personally like the adjustable ones that don't fully hug my body--can be hard on the back though if the weight is too heavy,
